I don't think this was anything that went wrong. Monken was interviewing for head coaching positions, so he was not at all guaranteed to come to the Giants. It would have been nice but we can't start thinking that everything we want we're going to get just because we got John harbaugh.

One thing I have to bring up is that you had a problem with Davis Webb and Weis Jr. not having experience calling plays, but no problem with Scheelhaase not having experience calling plays. I get that Scheelhaase comes from the McVay tree, but if you have it as a factor with the other candidates, you have to have it as a factor with Scheelhaase as well
