[Guardians] Unapologetically and completely one of us.

  1. Don’t think I’ve seen any other player, across any sport, so openly in love with Cleveland before. Even more than LeBron.

  2. That’s great, you should walk into your owners office and tell them to stop fucking around and sign some free agents because you deserve to play in a World Series/play in one.

  3. It really seems out of all the major sports the players in the MLB actually care about their teams and cities the most.

  4. Honestly so happy for yall. We’ve had a couple of lifers in Houston, namely Biggio and Altuve, and it just electrifies their contributions. Makes the team feel like a community. It just adds a special something you can’t describe.

  5. This is awesome. Props to him and to Cleveland. It’s so awesome having a guy like this on your team.

  6. I hope when they build the statue of him they don’t use the same company as Wade. He deserves better than that

  7. Tigers fan coming in peace. This man’s commitment to your city is, at minimum, tremendously enviable. A superstar who wants nothing more than to be a Clevelander, and his on field play is beyond reproach. Its refreshing to know the Boras mentality doesn’t inflict everyone.

  8. some guys know the assignment. it goes so far as an athlete to embrace the city you play in.

  9. Every baseball fan, regardless of favorite team loves a story like this. A star player that sticks with their team because they just love the environment and the fans love them back. Makes me happy to see. As happy as I am with the Mets’ recent offseason moves, it makes me miss Alonso a little more.

  10. As a Jays fan I wanted nothing more than to see us land Jose when he was nearing free agency. Our FO had a great relationship with him from their time together in Cleveland and he is the kind of generational talent winning teams are built around.

But, I am SO happy he stayed in Cleveland, cemented a legacy built upon his morals and loyalty, and that the entire sport know’s exactly what kinds of stand up dude Jose truly is. I’m sure he would have been beloved in Toronto, but it would have paled in comparison to the love from his Ohio faithful

  11. Lots of respect and admiration to JRam. Mark Shapiro/Ross Atkins were key members in his scouting, signing, and development in the Cleveland organization. Too bad JRam didn’t take Toronto’s offer in 2022.

  12. have people been looking for an apology or something?

i love the sentiment but the whole “unapologetically” thing feels very forced, who is complaining about JRam being in cleveland?

  13. Love to see it. And feel the same way about Salvador Perez here in KC. He may be from Venezuela, but nobody embodies the spirit of the city better than Sal.

  14. Mad props to him. This reminds me of Yadi’s love affair for St. Louis. By all accounts, he and Ramirez could’ve easily been picked up by a much larger market team, and I couldn’t blame them one bit. But to stay committed to their respective cities, that speaks volume about their character. They know the folks in their city will support them 100%, start to finish.

  15. As a Tigers fan, I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with Jose. He’s one hell of a ball player.
However, I have nothing but respect for Jose. The way he plays the game, the way he carries himself, and now, watching him make this contract, to stay with the city he clearly loves, and loves him back, is commendable and respectable.
He’s one hell of a ball player, and one hell of a man.
You’ve got a great thing Cleveland, enjoy him as much as he clearly enjoys you.

  16. It definitely helps they’ve only had two losing seasons in his 13 years with the team.

  17. I love that. Hate seeing him come through the lineup, but he’s one of the few who say they want to stay around and then takes steps to where you absolutely believe him.
