Certain quarterbacks never accomplished this while the player that was supposedly carried by his defense accomplished it twice. Makes you think what Eli could have been with a much better front office

  1. If Bill Belicheck’s punishment for cheating is that he won’t be a first ballot hall of famer, Tom Brady’s punishment should be him and Eli getting the gold jacket in the same year.

  2. “That was supposedly carried by his defense”…? Are you an Eli fan or a Giants fan? Because you know damn well the defense was awesome both super bowls/postseasons.

  3. Eli is so underrated- people actually think he wasn’t an all time great. It’s crazy. Giants front office has been a clown show for going on 2 decades and they completely tanked the back 1/2 of his career.

  4. People love to say the defense carried him. Remember the garbage D the beginning of 07? The Defense AND Eli both stepped up when it mattered. Love you Eli!

  5. In 2011, he was pancaked, sandwiched, and flattened by a monster 49ers D in the NFC championship game. That performance alone is one for the ages.

  6. Yup, along with being in or near the top 10 in passing yards, attempts, TDs and consecutive games played– off ALL QBs. Favre and Peyton, plus other HOF-ers, have thrown more interceptions than Eli. Oh and I don’t see Favre as a two-time winner…

But the voters just don’t think Eli has a place in history, they’re looking out for the integrity of the hall. Maybe he’ll get in if they feel like it.

  7. You guys act like Super Bowls grow on trees. Brady (and now Mahomes) has completely ruined that perception when it’s really just that damn hard to get there.

There are no guarantees. Montana and Bradshaw (who was much more a passenger) and Aikman won as much as they did because rosters were much more static when they played. Rodgers only has one and he had great teams throughout his time in Green Bay. Same can be said for Brees. Peyton has two, but that second one was completely in spite of him. Stafford has one. Russ, one of the best 2010s QBs, also has one.

I also really have a problem with the narratives around the two teams that the graphic suggests. Eli was a shit QB in 2007 for almost the entire regular season. The Giants got to the playoffs that year because of the defense and some overperformance. Eli played a LOT better in the postseason (starting with the 16-0 game against the Pats), but so did the defense, and Eli was not the best player on that team over those 4 games. Sure, give him the Super Bowl MVP, he earned that, but it’s not like he dragged some awful team there on his own.

The 2011 team was somewhat of an inverse of that. Eli was fantastic in the regular season that year. He continued to be so in the playoffs. But that much maligned defense also improved significantly in the playoffs that year. They shut out the Falcons and held that incredible Green Bay offense to 20 points, and 7 of those came off of a horrible call by the officials that should’ve been a turnover in our favor. Despite Eli’s great play that year, I don’t think that team goes all the way if the defense hadn’t massively improved its game in late December and January, largely off of guys like Tuck getting healthy.

  8. and was a 500 mediocre QB other than those two playoff runs. It’s the hall of GREAT, not the hall of good, or the hall of got lucky twice.

  9. I’m so fucking furious they’re not gonna put our boy in the HOF 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
