This would solve wonders for the lineup if he’s able to be a serviceable 2B. Played in college and some in Low A so it doesn’t seem to be completely unrealistic. Opening day lineup?

C Narvaez

1B Contreras

2B Duran

3B Mayer

SS Story

LF Anthony

CF Rafaela

RF Abreu

  1. Duran to 2B is the single dumbest idea I’ve seen repeatedly floated around by Red Sox fans this offseason.

  2. No. This is lazy. They spent so much time trying to get him to be an outfielder. He is a good player but they set the price on him so high that no one is interested in reaching it.

  3. He played 2b in college, Sox drafted him with the intention of turning him into an outfielder. Who knows from a pre-spring training photo, they may just be messing around.

  4. Why are you guys always mad about everything? They’re trying to fit all of their best players into the lineup, maybe it won’t work, it probably won’t work, but what’s the harm in trying?

  5. This has disaster written all over it, and it will not come as a surprise to anyone. Please don’t do this.

  6. It’s not unusual for players to screw around especially in the beginning of camp and play out of position. This is most likely a big bag of nothing.

  7. Im sure casas played 3b in high school. Let’s have him be our third baseman lmaoooooo gtfoh

  8. You lose his speed at 2B though. Rafaela should play 2B or just DFA Yoshida, and have all the outfielders cycle through DH until Casas is back.
