"The last domino that needs to fall is the decision of the nine MLB teams still linked with the FanDuel RSNs to permanently opt-out of their deals, potentially bringing their local rights back in-house with the league as many others have already done. Given the FanDuel RSNs are teetering on the brink of extinction, it’s hard to project any other outcome at this point."

This article from Evan Drellich a few weeks ago goes into some detail as well, but I suppose a change is coming no matter what it seems

  1. The bandaid will suck short term likely with the revenue the team will get with it being in house with MLB but let’s hope long term there is some mega deal down the road once all the contracts are up I think 2029 that better rev can make it into the org

  2. If I could go back and tell myself 10 years ago that a sports team would be broadcast on a network owned by a gambling site, I would have punched me in the face and called me a lying sack of shit.

But here we are, in 2026. Living the dream.

  3. Going to be kind of a bummer losing access to NHL hockey on cable though. The Blackhawks are available over the air on CHSN which is fine but I didn’t mind watching the Wild these past few years.

Unfortunately it’s not a 100% given that what follows is going to be without challenges.

  4. You all celebrate this, but I don’t think I can take a full year of the games being streamed on something called …checks notes… Victory+

  5. Not sure who is really at fault here, but I am continuously blown away that the best quality you could stream the games in was 720p. And then a year or two ago we got upgraded! (to 1080p) Baffling that in the mid 2020s the best you could stream baseball was “HD” quality. Fine for phones, not so much for 55″+ tvs…

I *really* hope that whoever picks up the streaming will upgrade the stream quality because it just looks so bad on big screens
