Looks like we got the right GM. Not long after he discussed his decision making process around Darnold.

Forget JJ, dude should have been fired on the spot for taking Lewis Cline in the 1st round
Kwesi was hired 3 days after Ryan Poles and there have been comparisons on how he’s built the team ever since. In the early days it didn’t look great but in year 4, Bears look to have made the right choice.

Not even considering the Darnold of it all his drafts have been absolutely terrible. Like worst in the league bad.
Vikings fans were literally victory lapping hiring Kwesi instead of Poles before the start of this season on this app.

He wasn’t a good drafter but I really think that KOC is becoming a heavily overrated coach. Part of draft picks is that the coaching staff has to develop them. The only good players the Vikings have drafted in his tenure are Will Reichard (kicker), Jordan Addison (WR), Jalen Nailor (WR) and Dallas Turner (Edge).
Aside from those 4, they have heavily whiffed on every other pick. Now there are some horrible picks like Lewis Cine, but the reality is that if a coaching staff can only develop 4 decent to good players for a team in 4 seasons, it likely isn’t a good staff.
Just look at us with Eberflus. It’s funny that after Eberflus and his staff got fired, some of Poles’ picks from previous seasons like Darnell Wright, Austin Booker, Rome, Caleb etc got better.
It’s also alarming that Klint Kubiak has Sam Darnold looking much better than KOC ever did.
Kwesi is the fall guy here but everyone not named Brian Flores in that building should be fired

Turns out winning 14 games with a QB, letting that QB walk and then watching that QB go to the show while you flounder, isn’t great for your job.

make sure you hire a vet to a made up role so whoever you poach a GM from doesnt get comp picks
His draft picks and draft day trades are some of the worst around the league. I was really hoping he would stay there and continue to ruin the Vikings franchise further.

Good thing Cunningham took the ATL job.
Hire him, rehabilitate and try to get some damn comp picks with this guy when he gets stolen 4 years down the road.
I would honestly be happy with him as Assistant GM. Ben and Poles would both outrank him in the drafting process, so I wouldn’t be worried about him disrupting our operations there, and he has a good track record in free agency — particularly in terms of identifying useful mid-tier FAs, which we have struggled to do under Poles.
He did not have many draft wins. One that he did, Jordan Addison, keeps getting arrested. He made tons of silly trade backs that resulted in basically nothing for the Vikings. He traded several draft picks away requiring him to patch up holes in free agency at higher cost. Flores helped him conceal how bad his cap and draft mistakes were. The Vikings cap situation will take a while to fix.
All things considered, if they keep Sam Darnold there’s a very high chance they make a deep run in the playoffs. The non QB parts of the team is very similar to the Seahawks. Getting rid of Darnold was an incredibly arrogant move.
The Vikings said cool now that the top executives have already gotten hired, let’s fire our GM. Why don’t we just have him do Ian’s job and make him the assistant GM
When you have Darnold and Jones on the roster and let both walk and they end up in the Super Bowl and MVP discussion the following year its though to keep the job. Add in JJ being trash, and it’s a no-brainer.
Good news for Vikings fans is they should move on from JJ quickly. Let him start next year in a tanking season, and then they don’t have to trade a ton of assets to draft the next guy.
Vikings are on the cusp of a major implosion. Harrison smith may retire, they lose their GM, if Jefferson gets traded……they are cooked
Time for their assistant GM and Colts legend Ryan Grigson to take over right?
Remember when Minnesota chose him over Ryan Poles, because Ryan was adamant on a complete restructure?
14 win team and he turns it over to a QB that had never taken a snap in a regular season game.
Didn’t even have a decent backup until they signed Carson Wentz and behind him was an undrafted rookie.
No competent GM does that.
How he handled Darnold situation was malpractice of the highest order. its impossible for me to believe he couldnt have tagged darnold and gotten more for him than a bottom of the 3rd rd pick a year later on the condition he didnt sign too many free agents.
