Former GM was asked if he made a mistake, and he did not say Yes. Not being accountable.
Hopeful they are not done canning people.
He got fired because Nine sucks
He’s Been very bad at drafting not just picking 9 over Bo but lots of over picks. We are 50mil over the cap and choose to start playing Jefferson starting next year instead of paying him while we develop JJ
There were way too many failures that fall squarely on KAM’s shoulders. The Darnold decision is the big one, but his drafting has been atrocious. Because of his drafting, the Vikings have to keep such an expensive roster and now the owners had to pay a ton of bonuses out for oft-injured veterans who were mostly mediocre. I think the Wilfs just came to the conclusion that they need a better decision-maker at the top of the org
I watched all the way to the end and nobody thanked me!
Kevin the Mick did not like Daniel Jones or Sam Darnold! Kevin the arrogant Mick is Brilliant and has to have 'his' QB that he has coached up.
Even if Darnold stayed with the Vikings doesn’t mean he would have made the SB. Vikings not re-signing, having a team and city FULLY embracing him and the adversities he faced with the Seahawks all played a part in why he’s playing in the SB.
Bad drafts
Bad FA signings
Let a 14 win QB walk
Didn't resign quality players (Bynum)
Didn't listen to COTY KOC about the QB situation.
Rich is a 🤡 when it comes to those Seahawks…he knows nothing about us !
He was fired because of his abysmal drafting record…Got fleeced by the Jets to move up…Drafted Turner ahead of Verse… OLine failed to improve, signing a center with concussion history…Team passed on impact RB s…He needed to go ..and failing to keep either vet qb, or grab Rodgers at a bargain price sealed it
Analytics is why!
Gee wonder if there is anything to do with all the fraud going on in Minnesota. Naaaah to easy.
Mistaking JJ McCarthy for a starting NFL QB was a fireable offense in and of itself. No one, not even Michigan fans, thought he would get drafted that high. Add to that letting Darnold walk and him taking Seattle to the Superbowl and I'm not surprised at all.
We do live I'm A fascist America. They are ground zero right now. Are we serious?
Sam walked away with Thors hammer, and carries it with him to Seattle, you know now a Vikings fans take, go Seattle, Sam D is my Guy
The Vikings are as dysfunctional as the city they represent.
Yea, I would say so. When it comes to QB's in the NFL, 1 in the hand is always worth more than 2 in the bush. Huge blunder by the front office.
Wasn't this guy filmed at the Learing Center guarding the front door
3:22 "…You mean Dallas does the same with their GM???" Where in the Hell did you get this guy??? Jerry Jones gonna fire himself???
I hope the Vikings follow the Jags’ lead and get a young GM like James Gladstone with a fresh perspective and great football mind
Wait are we sure Kevin O’Connell is the guy?
Can KOC leave next?
JJ can’t be there if this is true.
Everyone wanted Donald fired from Minnesota last year so people need to just suck it up and realize that you guys screwed up
The first two drafts and that poor O-line couldn't block A cold the whole season, when healthy,Skol
Here’s what probably happened:
Kwesi at senior bowl evaluates a QB, makes remark about possible 9 contingency
Ownership has been bitter since the NFC title game and loses his ish
Kwesi gets a bit froggy about his “strategy”, argument ensues and owner rage drops Kwesi
being Minnesota, he was probably involved in fraud
Sam was selected to replace Kirk . I presume the perceived sam as a cheaper version of Kirk . I think it was a 10 mil one year deal . Did they even entertain the thought that Sam could be the franchise quarterback of the Vikings ? Then JJ came up in the war room and the Vikings traded to get him . They really did not know what they had in either of them but they had a competition between them but JJ got injured and Sam got the job . If JJ was healthy would he have got the job ? I would say most likely . Sam was tainted goods in terms of perception. So the question is should they have kept Sam . I think if you did that you would have to let JJ go . JJ is capable but he lacks experience .
It wouldn't have hurt JJ at all to sit behind Darnold for another year. JJ doesn't even have his mechanics down.
People clown the Jets for Darnold but the Vikings had THIS version of Sam and said no thanks. that’s enough to get you fired
Vikings haven't won a Superbowl ever, no appearances for 50 years and they give up on a guy who goes the next season 🤣 can't make this ish up
Injured McCarthy got that dude fired .
Vikings are never not interesting
Ummm, letting Darnold just walk away was malpractice be the GM there. He should have been fired when he brought up doing it.
Darnold, last year, I'm a Jets fan I wmsaw first hand what the Jets did to Sam. If you did not eat every game from 2018-20 or followed the insanity around that dismal team you just CANT UNDERSTAND why Sam has only started playing like this now. If he went to a functional organization you would have seen this 6 years ago. You need to throw everything out and his first years with Minnesota was his real 1st season. Good thing for Seahswks fans is that this is the worst Sam Darnold you will see play for Seattle in the next. 10 years .
I KNOW Sam knows this but he will get so much better over the coming years, and the Seahawks have one of the youngest teams in the NFL. How old is JSN. Sam will win MVPs, which are meaningless especially because he's also going to win SB MVPs. Seattle wins their first this year but there are at least 3 more coming.
I mean they drafted JJ pretty high and Sam was at that time looked at as a stop gap that would need a huge contract if he balled if they wanted to keep him… or the cheap high draft pick that you were betting on. Guess it was a bust
I remember Viking fans saying that the Pats didn’t deserve Maye and would ruin him 😂
“NO EARTHLY IDEA”? How about in addition to Darnold making the Super Bowl, Kwesi’s drafting record was the worst in the league, and his FA acquitions were incredibly underwhelming and in many cases like the Davenport trade were horrendous! But let’s not forget that it also is a result from the historically horrendous play from JJM, who was anointed as the starter despite not having done anything in the NFL! Of course Rich Eisen isn’t capable of acknowledging how bad JJM was because he worships at the alter of Michigan football! I wish I was in th studio because it is amazing how you have no in-depth understanding of the facts. Someone said they finish with a five game winning streak. The reality is that two of those wins were against horrible defenses in the Commanders & Cowboys (#32 pass ranked defense), and the Packers played their 3rd string players. Up until the final 1/3 of the season against decent teams, JJM was having a historically bad season statistically worse than Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, and Zach Wilson. Anointing a rookie as the starter on a bad team that only won a few games is understandable, but not pivoting away from an unproven rookie who had red flags coming out of college was insane! Why the timing? Duh, Kwesi was probably integrally involved in the Flores contract discussions!
pretty lame reaction tbh
Huh! It’s something I wished had happened to the GM of the Niners for dragging his feet or sitting on his butt and and getting depth at important positions to protect the QB or faster receivers, and maybe better players on the defense. Letting BA go before he became a financial liability, and proceeded to developed spatula hands once he got his undeserved contract. Let’s hope he can milk the Commanders for money and draft picks so BA and Jaden can renew their on the field friendship.
The firing is due to their shortsightedness, and their egos getting in the way of not wanting to look as though they really don’t know how to assess talent at the QB position. Which seems to be everyone claiming, that they are the experts at picking out talent, but what no one has locked in on are the intangibles, that aren’t listed on the analytic report.
If there were a fire-able offense, it was his failure to sign Sam to a one-year contract, without a club option for a second year. By the time Sam proved himself after that one year, the club was in no position to offer Sam anything close to what the Raiders and Seahawks could offer him, because the club's belief in JJ.
You know the owner heard from all his friends making funny of him since Sunday for letting go of a Super Bowl QB, he went to the clubhouse and heard jokes; so he fumed and fumed and final exploded into the firing today. We can act like its big picture but owners are still owners with insanely high narcissism.
So Sam took all the heat for the playoff loss, you think the locker room loved that…. its not us its the players….welll that proved wrong Sam seems to be continueing his growth….
Let's be real, 90% of seahawks fans held their breath when Sam Darnold was signed lol. GM got shafted.
Pretty sure it's Darnold and Jones, and 9. Draft and cap situation also not great Bob.
Because he has an overmatched coach that goes 0-2 in the playoffs
Who could have Cine this coming 🤣😂🤣
9-8 but it was a wide open year that hurts if sam was there they could be in the sb 😂 sucks to be a Vikings fan
Michigan men Rich Eisen, Jim Harbaugh, sold us om JJ McCarthy 😅 never understood what the heck did Minnesota saw in that guy
