Alex Kay On Pitts In Miami
“After shipping off Jonnu Smith before the 2025 season kicked off, the Dolphins failed to generate reliable pass-catching production from their tight end spot. Neither Greg Dulcich nor Darren Waller stood out while splitting time as Miami’s primary receiving TE and the team now desperately needs to fill that hole this offseason. Regardless of whether Tua Tagovailoa, Quinn Ewers or someone else ends up starting under center for Miami in 2026, Pitts should emerge as a favored target thanks to his excellent playmaking skills and ability to create mismatches all over the field.”

  1. I don't give three flying moose farts about Kyle Pitts. Go? Stay? Don't care.

I DO care about our new quarterback. Garrett Nussmeier. He was very impressive in the Senior Bowl. Then, I heard Pat Kirwan compare him to "a young Kirk Cousins" Since Cousins had his career best year under Stephansky, then it is reasonable to assume that— if Kirwan is correct— that a young Kirk Cousins would be capable of executing Stephansky's offense at a high level.

  2. Good riddance. A tight end is supposed to be willing to do the dirty work and willing to get hit. He doesn’t block and cowers over the middle. When he gets the bag, he will fall off again like years 2 & 3. This year he stepped up a little, but only bc it was a contract year. And never forget when he said “I just work here” after multiple bad games.

  3. Just tag him and move on to the next player issue. Boo-Hoo for his agent. The 12 or 22 (23?!) offensive set is a basic Stefanski scheme and Pitt may be coached up to lead it…Don't understand why this is even a personnel discussion.

  4. All they have to do is just franchise him. It's a little pricey but it's only for 1 year and it's not like tight ends get paid that much. He'd only be around the 3rd highest paid in the league so there would be multiple tight ends who get paid more. I'd just franchise him and see if he can have a good year again next season.

  5. I want to keep Pitts, as I believe his issues where due to inconsistent QB and a OC that frequently just forgot they had a pass catching nightmare TE. I would tag him, to make any team that wants him pay dearly while we work on a new deal.

  6. So the Falcons want to fill a TE spot for another team while opening one up on their own roster even though they have less picks this year? And do they think they can come close matching Pitt's ability?

  7. Don't let the door hit him on the way out. We need reliable, consistent targets for our QB1. If we franchise tag anyone, it should be Tyler Allgeier. Especially if we're going to focus on the run.
