Nomar Garciaparra and Mark Portugal use tape to tie Pedro Martinez to a pole in the dugout at Fenway Park

  1. ‘99 was one of the funnest years to be a Red Sox fan. Super likable, well-rounded team with all the “Dirt Dogs” coming up through the system. Peak Nomar. Pedro every fifth day. The greatest All Star weekend in history….great stuff.

I also loved when Pedro chased everybody around in a Yoda mask.

  2. I loved Nomar, the one thing I hated about the Red Sox finally winning was that they traded Nomar the season where it happened

  3. Can anyone find the full game of this? I was there. In the late innings, as this was happening, we ended up right over the dugout. So we couldn’t see what was going on. We kept hearing people saying “tied to a pole” as word spread, and we were *very* confused. So my buddy, who incredibly had a cell phone in 1999, calls my parents’ house, and they tell us what’s happening. My whole life I’ve been waiting to see more of this footage, to see if they have even a slightly wider shot showing the front row above the dugout. It’d be pretty sweet to have a shot of Pedro with the tape and me and my friend above him! So thanks in advance to anyone who can find it.
