  1. Wow you two are dense. Who cares, other than fanboys like you, if Matthews retires as the greatest Leaf. If they don’t win the Cup he failed. You have such low standards. How do they rebuild their defence? Who do they build it around? Where do they find a first line winger to play with Matthews? Domi? You do remember that they have traded away most of their draft picks? You are also aware they have no prospects? In what world does this team get better next year? I remember many lean years supporting this team, far more than either of you. Keeping Matthews prolongs the pain of coming years. Trading him for young prospects and drafts is their only option.

  2. YEAH PLAYOFF RIELLY WAS A REAL THING! HE LET IN 20 CRUCIAL GOALS WHILE ON THE ICE (look at game 7 against Panthers last year) and he scored 2 goals a series. I will never understand wtf people were ever thinking he was a #1 dman and that he was worth 7.5 mil are you f** kidding me. I cant wait till this loser is off the team!

  3. "that's what it looks like when you blow it up, I don't want to watch 32 games of that" sammy, it went to a shoot out! we were basically even with a blown up team and we're supposed to be contenders, what more damage could it possibly do?!

  4. Columbus, despite being bad last year, was 2-1 against Toronto last year, and outscored Toronto 11-8 (11-3 in wins, 0-5 in the loss.) Neither Robertson, nor any Leaf, lit up Columbus last year.

  5. What you have here is the saddest case scenario a hockey team can be in…all the players they have will only get you late picks in the draft, if that and anyone coming back from a trade will be of the same quality or worse. So you're still at square one. Our prospects are not high caliber. Even Cowan, he's OK and hopefully he develops but he's not a sure shot first or second liner. So, there's no saviour on the way. We have almost no draft picks in the next two years to speak of so, it's not looking good. Even if, let's say, Morgan Rielly would wave his no trade clause what would we get for him, if we can see that he his a complete joke of a dman, the other teams can see it too, 7.5 million dollars, untradeable. And, after 10 years of this team, we're stuck with a leadership core that, honestly, will never win when it counts so, we're stuck with them for a while…this is not good, but it's nothing new with this organization. Get use to it, it's the core, they are the problem. When your main players act like they don't give a damn, the whole team follows suit.

  6. The Toronto Floaters. Reilly, floater. Nylander, floater, Matthews, floater. The Leafs barely scrapped together a win against the worst team in the NHL. Blow it up!!!!!

  7. Hey Sammy – the Canucks haven’t even started their tear down or blown it up yet. They went into this year planning on winning. The only 2 players they’ve traded are Hughes and Sherwood and that’s because they both told Vancouver they are leaving as Free Agents. They still have 7 older players on long term deals they have to trade and not many prospects or draft picks

  8. I honestly don’t get the “I can’t handle a blow it up”. Why not? The last 10 years were just as, if not, more brutal than the previous 10 years. Who cares if they are good in the regular season. Every year ends in embarrassment, disappointment and disaster. It’s obvious thy can’t win with these stars. It’s been 60 years. What’s another 5-7????? Take it to the studs.

  9. Minten is just only one of a dozen or more draft picks and prospects that the Leafs traded away to try and “accommodate” Reilly.
You would think by now they’d realize that not a defender on the planet could help Reilly’s lack of defensive awareness

  10. Woll is still learning. First time playing 40 games last year. I am sure other teams are looking for his weaknesses. Woll will like all goalies have to adjust his game a little. We see this happen with other young goalies. The team does not have many practices but I think Stolarz will get back up to speed soon.
