Won't be able to write/interact a lot cause I am at work, but I am curious :
Do you guys and gals from SA,TX realise the cultural impact of the spurs in France?
How do you feel about it? Do you know it is an aura bonus if you visit France.
Parker, (parker+boris) then Wemby… It is almost unbelievable how you are France's team

Bien sur!
The international team! Lots of players from all over, Argentina, Australia, and Brazil are some other countries that have added to the Spurs tapestry.
I love that the Spurs have a large dedicated fan base internationally especially in France and Argentina! I would honestly say the Spurs are the first to make scouting international players the norm!
We’re not “mainstream” like the big cities such as LA and New York but we have our own aura!
I know what to wear when I visit France! 🇫🇷
Yes! I don’t know how popular basketball is with the average French population but I would definitely say the Spurs would be the favorite team there, kind of like how the Rockets were in China
France is my favorite national men’s football team besides Mexico. So I’m happy the spurs are France’s team.
Yep went to paris for the games last year. It was all about wemby and les spurs.
After the Hornets game I’m imagining how terrifying team France will be at the next World Cup and Olympics. Their front line will be insane between Wemby, Gobert, Sarr, Diabate. If Salaun or Traore develop they can really give team USA a tough matchup.
Yes, I made a friend while I was living in Europe just because I was carrying a reusable grocery bag with Tony Parker on it.
(I think it’s the 2014 Finals one made by HEB)
I wanna know if Wemby knows Texas used to be a France colony from 1685 to 1689.
Sacre bleu!
Yep!! 👍🏽 Also back in the day (early aughts) I worked at a pharmacy across the street from a decent long term stay hotel. There would be a couple French tourists who would stay there for the opening of the season. And then there would be a few British tourists who would come for the Rodeo.
Are you telling me that , as an Argentinian, I am ok to go around France wearing a Ginobili jersey ?
It’s an honor. Would love to visit someday maybe once Americans/USA have a better reputation lol. And once I know some French though I hear the French don’t really appreciate that, especially considering you all know English anyway.
Allez Les bleus
My buddy bumped into his mom in a French Cafe and she casually pointed to one of his rings that he gave her. I know it sounds made up but it was the coolest thing that’s ever happened to him
I was in Paris in 2014 and was flipping through channels on my apartment’s TV one evening. Watched about 20 min of “Asterix at the Olympic Games” and there was a Tony Parker cameo towards the end.
Jalapeño poppers
yes we know
My wife and I vacationed in Paris in 2019, and were blown away by the amount of SA gear we saw – and the amount of people that wanted to chat about the team once they realized we were fans from Texas 😂.
We’ve both been Spurs fans since the mid 90’s so it was a lot of fun to talk basketball with the folks over there. Also helped me work on my (still terrible) French.
i love how many foreign players have played for the spurs it makes them really cool to me. Boris Diaw and Manu being some of my favorites
Dont forget Ian Mahinmi and Nando De Colo during that same time frame.
Spurs are probably Argentinas team as well, having the Argentina basketball GOAT for his whole career, as well as Fab Oberto who was on the Argentine gold medal team and then won a championship with the Spurs and Manu.
The Tony Parker documentary on Netflix a few years back made it pretty clear, yeah
Oui
Argentina loves the spurs too. I’d know.
I remember Michael Jordan being big in France. Why is there not loads of Bulls fans by default?
Love this!
So, I’m in Austin (born and raised diehard spurs fan of more than 3 decades)
I work for a company based in Geneva. Every year, I fly there for a couple weeks to work, and while I know this is not in France, I always bring a few spurs hats as I know Geneva is primarily French-speaking + there are quite a few folks I bump into that live in France but work in GVA.
It’s always fun for me to occasionally be stopped by strangers who mention my hat and share their adoration of the spurs 🥰
And lastly, my vote is it should be called “chocolatine” 😬
GSG!
Not only France,
I’m from Jordan 🇯🇴, and fell in love with the Spurs thanks to Manu and Pop
The fact that being a Spurs fan has me rooting for France against the US in the Olympics is funny. We are France’s team and in return we American Spurs fans love France.

Mr. Worldwide baby
Yes, we are very aware of it. However, I am surprised nobody notices how there’s no popular independent-media people for the Spurs. This is not just France, but in the USA itself.
In other words, some entertainment-savvy people could come into San Antonio and make a Spurs-centric media group, and nobody would be able to stop them from becoming the leaders of the Spurs ‘indie’ culture – from lack of opposition.
I’m from SA and every time I’ve been to France I had instant clout (among sports heads) because of it.
Most of us were rooting for France against the USA in Olympic basketball.
Also Chinese team, Bateer first Chinese player getting NBA championship
We welcome anyone that appreciates ethical hoops
We’ve been the unofficial “Team World” for a couple decades now lol
