Red Sox trade: Who’s Gage Ziehl (2024 Yankees pick), who Boston acquired from White Sox?

  1. He’s the $1 lotto ticket they got for the White Sox being kind enough to take Hicks’ salary. It was a straight salary dump with Sandlin to pay the ticket price. Ziehl’s ceiling is likely AAAA or org depth.

  2. i’m just sort of shocked breslow wanted a pitcher who couldn’t also be a power forward size wise.

  3. Back in October, TJStats named Ziehl as the 2026 pitcher breakout candidate for the White Sox.

It would be truly hilarious if a random lower ranked prospect we got back in a salary dump of part of the initial Devers return ended up being the most valuable piece of the Devers trade tree.

  4. Maybe the Sox and Driveline can teach this guy how to throw a knuckleball? Fastball isn’t that fast, decent sweeper and cutter it sounds like. Knucklers are missing from our farm system, prospect pipeline and all of baseball for that matter. It would be awesome to see a knuckleballer come in between lefty starters that throw gas like Crotchet, Tolle, etc. Plus an awesome tribute to Tim Wakefield.
