Top 10 Catchers Right Now

  1. Swap Will and Cal. Will has been a dog for years. Cal has to prove it again.

Edit: Jesus, I said Cal should be #2. Y’all acting like I said he should be off the list. Cal had a historic year no doubt. Will Smith time and time again throughout the last 6 years has been the best catcher while dealing with the craziest postseason scenarios that a catcher ever had to face in back to back seasons with the bullpen and starting pitching. While also being clutch as hell with his bat under the brightest lights. Will #1 Cal #2. Standing on business.

  2. The top 4 are the starters from the championship series last year. Really makes you think that might be an important position 🤔

  3. Cal might be #1 admittedly, but I’ll take Will Smith over Cal any day of the week.

  4. Crazy how Will isn’t just the best catcher in the NL, but also one that’s actually homegrown. BOOM checkmate haters

  5. will smith our fresh prince of LA! such a solid season for him last year man. even if he’s not the #1 catcher he is in my heart. he basically carried my Beat The Streak but i still couldn’t make it past 25 smh

  6. I don’t see much of a problem with this list.

Frankly, I’m pleasantly surprised to see Smith recognized at #2. After the season Dumper just put up, there’s no way Willy Dilly could – or should – be #1. But I’m glad he didn’t get slotted down behind Contreras and Realmuto.

Ain’t no shame in being the second best catcher in the game *right now*.

If the question is “who is more likely to make the HoF someday”, then I’d have a different answer.

  7. People in this thread really acting like Smith being the 2nd best catcher in the world is a bad thing.

  8. ITT people who don’t realize Cal Raleigh had back-to-back 30 homer seasons before hitting 60 last year and won the platinum glove which is the award for best overall defensive player in the AL in 2024.

  9. The fan vote is better than the actual combined list. Will Smith is #1 in my book. But the top 2 are easily a level above the rest… but in the combined list, they have Smith at 3. Haha, foolishness.

I actually don’t care at all about rankings. Ik the best catcher plays for the Dodgers, and that is all that matters as a fan.

  10. He gave us the go ahead homer in game 7. He’s a HOF for sure. Plus he’s always been a great bat and pitch caller.

  11. number 1 next year Willie. Can’t believe he signed the deal he did… worth so much more.

  12. will smith is underrated largely because he puts his head down, does the work, and wins.

  13. For all you stating Cal had best hitting season by a catcher ever- he is more Todd Hundley than Mike Piazza with the bat.
