Memphis got 7 FRPs for Desmond Bane and JJJ, meanwhile guys on here act like 6 FRPs for Mikal and KAT is the end of the world

  1. It’s 6 FRPs plus Randle and Donte….

But generally agreed. Picks are overrated. Plus KAT and Mikal are better than Bane and JJJ.

  2. Let’s call it what it is – 5 FRPs for Bridges and 1 for KAT. It’s the 5 for Bridges that seems egregious given his level of play since joining the Knicks.

  3. Mikal and KAT aren’t worth 6 firsts. JJJ and Bane aren’t worth 7. Anthony Davis is not equal value to Luka Doncic in trade. Because some DUMB teams make DUMB moves, doesn’t means it justifies the dumb moves the Knicks have made. Knicks aren’t getting 6 firsts back for Mikal and KAT if they tried lol

  4. wonder how much theyll get for ja in the next 2 days, cant imagne they keep him

  5. You mean 3FRP for a DPOY 26 year and under contract for 5 years in a trade with not a good player in there is bad?

  6. Fulfilled First Round Picks:
    – (KAT) Pistons 2025 #17, became Joan Beringer
    – (Mikal) Bucks 2025 #19, became Nolan Traoré
    – (Mikal) Knicks 2025 #26, became Ben Saraf

    Future Picks
    – (Mikal) 2027, 2028 (Pick Swap), 2029, 2031

Just hoping that those future picks don’t amount to anything substantial really

  7. Such a bogus trade by Danny Ainge lmao. Dude tanks for all these years, just to give up 3 firsts for Jaren Jackson Jr in a year where the draft’s super top heavy

  8. not the same…. but still personally I think we will be fine through 2030, and we should start holding those once our band gets old and dismembered

  9. So who / what did the magic get in return for Bane? This lowkey makes things better for us if he’s out of the EC, but depends on who comes in his spot

  10. i don’t think it’s the end of the world. but mikal was 5 picks. so saying mikal and kat for 6 pics seems reductive.

  11. I’ve been saying since we got MB that FUQ THOSE PICKS, for better or for worse (even though some days its worse). The real value of the picks would come in 2029 and onward. If we (god willing) win a title, then I say go back to Brooklyn and give them 5 more.

  12. It’s Lakers 2027
Best from Jazz, Wolves, Cavs 2027
    Suns 2031

Interesting move by Utah. It means they believe in George and Bailey and think they’re ready to compete next year. Walker Kessler and Jaren Jackson is a talented pair of defensive bigs. Add in Lauri and they’ve got some firepower

  13. Why did the Jazz trade for JJJ and why did Memphis trade him… so confused. Jazz should be building with the draft. Memphis should be building around JJJ.

  14. The picks themselves don’t mean much. Low first statistically on average don’t become much. It’s just not having that in the war chest hurts when a team like the Bucks want to move a star.

But is what it is. Honestly I think a Giannis trade happens in the offseason so the bucks can leverage as much for high picks. Trading him to a good team will only net then picks in the 20 plus range. Less chance to find the next star.

But hey that’s just my opinion

  15. I think people often think that NBA picks=NFL picks. Quite frankly, the closest to a “sure thing” in an NBA draft is those first 5-6 picks, and that’s if it’s a good group.

In the NFL, the draft is usually exceedingly deep, just by virtue of a bigger player pool. In the NBA, you’ll be lucky if your second round pick even makes it to the league lmao. I also think us Knicks fans especially overvalue picks because of how well our front office has drafted in recent years. We hit on Deuce and Quickley. That is far and away unusual.

  16. Hindsight is 20/20 but at that time players we’re being traded for a very large amount of picks.

…Yet, of course, only the Knicks are the ones getting clowned for it.

Out of all of those trades we got one of the best returns in Mikal and it elevated our team. We got back to the ECF for the first time in decades and were a few points away from making the Finals – if only we had a less hardheaded coach who could actually make rotations.

It’s absurd to look at this in any other lense than, it was a move in which will only really hurt us for 2 or so years given the – hopefully – longevity of our window.

We got like 4 or so years of competing. That takes us to at least 2029/2030.

  17. I forgot the Grizzlies had those picks. Still should have made it a 3 team deal to get more picks but oh well

  18. So Memphis is waving the flag and blowing up the team?

What’s funny is that Ja gonna have to stay there and be miserable for now

  19. None of the 3 picks from Utah are high value picks. Two are basically throwaways and the third one is uncertain, and Utah still own plenty of picks. Bane trade on the other hand is pretty comparable to Mikal’s. End of the world is cap but Knicks and Magic both lost significant flexibility as a result
