BREAKING: Star left-hander Framber Valdez and the Detroit Tigers are in agreement on a three-year, $115 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Valdez, 32, gets the highest AAV ever for a left-handed pitcher as well as the highest for a Latin American pitcher. Huge move for Detroit.

  1. Hopefully Dingler doesn’t tell him to step off…

Jokes aside, nice to see us go after a legit starter rather than pray we can fix someone

  2. Well we just made the strongest part of our team even stronger so can’t complain about that. Good insurance for if/when Skubal moves on too.

  3. Must be the Tigers won the arbitration case and decided they had extra money to spend /s

  4. Guys this is PERFECT timing. We likely won the Skubal hearing and Boras was setting the Tigers to play into the “their cheap” narrative. What a perfect time for a RECORD SETTING deal.

    We are so back

  5. We just signed a high end starter with huge playoff experience did they find a way to revive Mike?

  6. On paper:

    1. Skubal
    2. Valdez
    3. Flaherty
    4. Mize
    5. Olson

Edit: To the people saying Melton, he needs more work. A .198 BABIP with a 4.60 FIP shows that he had luck on his side. Don’t be surprised if Drew Anderson is in the bullpen and Troy Melton is a starter in AAA.

  7. this is awesome, and what i’ve been waiting for. Valdez is a real needle mover.

  8. Well this is unexpected but exciting

Starting 5 looks real strong now

    Skubs
    Framber
    Jack
    Mize
    Melton

  9. This is probably some pre planning for the post skubal era but for right now, I’m just so happy they made a real move.
