  1. I would say that the thought that Clax is overpaid is accurate. To put this into context, Detroit Center Jalen Duren will be an RFA this off season. The Nets could get him with an offer sheet of $25MM to $30MM. He is a vastly better player then Nic in my opinion.

  2. Respectfully, I would not give Day'Ron away for one or two 2nd round picks and I highly favor him over Clax. His pick and roll defense is adequate. I want my center to play good post defense and rebound which he does a much better job of then Nic. He is also has a more polished post up game. The only things Nic has over him is he is a better rim protector and shooter. Nic makes $19MM a year more than Day'Ron and I don't think he's an overall better player then him. The ideal usage for Clax is to start him at the 4 with Day'Ron in the front court with Clowney being moved to the 3. This would be possible if MPJ is moved before or after the trade deadline.

  3. TRADE IDEA: NETS WITH THE CELTICS

The following would give the Celtics the center help they are seeking and help them shed the $12MM they need to avoid the luxury tax. The Nets still haven't used their $15MM in cap space yet but could in this instance.

    CELTICS GET: Nic Claxton

NETS GET: Anfernee Simons, Xavier Tillman, Chris Boucher, Josh Millot, Ron Harper, Jr., Amari Williams, 2026 1st rounder.

All players coming over from Celtics would be expiring contracts. The Nets are able to absorb all the salaries to get the Celtics out of luxury tax territory. Simons and Clax make almost the same money annually. This trade also allows the Nets to not have to trade Day'Ron and leveraging cap space to get another 1st rounder. Makes sense for both sides.ย

SIDE NOTE: Harper, Jr. and Williams are on expiring two way contracts and could be young players retained by the Nets depending on how they performed the rest of theย season.

  4. Not sure why trading for Johnathan Kuminga would be a problem if he has a team option on him. Why is it feasible to be trading for contracts with multiple years like with Moody, Hield, & Monk? ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

  5. TRADE IDEA: NETS WITH THE WARRIORS

This became possible after the Jimmy Butler injury. See below.

WARRIORS GET: MPJ, Clax, Ziare Williams, Haywood Highsmith, Tyson Etienne, & Chaney Johnson.

NETS: Jimmy Butler, Johnathan Kuminga, 2026 1st rounder (lottery protected), 2027 1st rounder (lottery protected), 2031 1st rounder (unprotected), 2032 1st rounder (unprotected).

I don't see why the Warriors would not want to do this other then the two unprotected 1st rounders. They would get a star player, certified rim protector, and reserves that would strengthen their bench without trading any of their core players. If the Warrior GM who has vocalized reluctance in trading picks continues to follow this pattern then he won't get Giannis or anything done with the Nets. A GM's priority; should be to position a team to title contention status as quickly and often as possible. Clinging on to picks for players that may not become anything for a chance to win now is malpractice and should result in their removal so I hope he does the right thing for Steph and Warriors fans.ย

From the Nets end this would be a solid draft capital acquisition outcome. With the assumption that Jimmy Butler may never play again; the Nets would get two unprotected 1st rounders for what would be a huge "dead" contract. If Jimmy Butler came back midway next season and gave us anything on the court then it would be a bonus. It may come down to us just taking one unprotected pic instead of two which could be the "meet in the middle" solution but that may not be enough for the Nets to take on this $50MM+ contract. The 2026 & 2027 pics would be a pic each for trading them MPJ & Clax.

  6. In regards to your final thought comments:

    1) I agree that the likely outcome for MPJ is to still be on the team past the trade deadline similar to what we saw with Cam Johnson last year.

    2) If they trade Day'Ron for a 2nd round pick then it would be the equivalent of trading him for a bag of basketballs. This would be a mistake. If you give him 30+ mins a night then he could be a 15 and 10 guy in my opinion. Clax is well short of that specifically with the rebounding.

  7. I'm a Knicks/NETS fan hybrid kNick fans since I was 13 in 1991 and I support the Nets they're part of our city( New York basketball ); why would they trade Michael Porter Jr he's a piece you can keep. Can't keep trading just for draft picks.. those are hit or misses.
