  1. Trading Skubal makes more sense now.

If they can receive more value in a trade than 1. Skubal this season and 2. a sandwich pick, you make the trade.

The Valdez contract is short term. Skubal will be long term when he signs.

  2. NO, Maxx Crosby isn't coming to the Lions. Oh wait, wrong video. It was an exciting announcement when we heard the Valdez signing. It's a mixed bag of possibilities of what will happen now with Skubal now. We shall see.

  3. Whether Skubal is more or less likely to be traded depends on whether you believe Harris when he says the overall trade picture depends on how much they pay Skubal. Trade him to a team in the playoffs every year with more prospects than they know what to with. Skubal to the Dodgers for Tyler Glasnow (2 years for 30 mil per year) and a prospect or two. Then you have more prospects to include in a trade for another established player.

  4. Cannot let Skubal walk next year and get absolutely nothing. Give him 150 for 3 and if he wont take that off he goes to the team with the best offer of players.

  5. With this signing, it says no way it’s school coming back after this yr!!
Everywhere fighting to pay aside Young winner 30 million per he ain’t coming back on a big contract for 40+ per & 5YRS plus!!

  6. MICKEY LOLITCH

ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THREW OVER 150 PER GAME!!
& COMPLETED MORE GAMES IN ONE YR MORE THAN SOME STARTERS WILL NOW – IN A CARRER!!

    Pictures of TODAY – puzzies!!

  7. The issue with Skubal is the number of years. He almost certainly will get at least 7 years on his next contract. That is too long for the Tigers at the AAV he will command. That is why getting Valdez on a 3 year deal is so helpful.

  8. Those people making comments about tigers being cheap are dumb remarks. Illitch just got Valdez for 3 yrs 115 million .fiscal responsible decisions are in long run keeping prices down to help us all to watch and go to games at less prices.paying any pitcher a long contract is dumb period……

  9. I went with my dad to meet him he was at a card show selling autographs and his book my dad was so excited to me him it made me so happy to be there he was a gentleman and a legend R.I.P Mickey

  10. Scoob will be here until the all-star break at least. If were playing great ball then he will finish the season in D. If were not in contention then the Brass will shop Skoob for future prospects.

  11. I'm just glad that Ilitch/Harris finally shut down the fake narrative that they were cheap with this one move! Harris always said they would spend when he felt they had the team resdy to compete for championships. Let's not forget they offered Bregman last year, a very lucrative player-friendly contract which he turned down. So, I don't wanna hear anymore about how the Tigers aren't serious about winning when all they've done is win the past 2 years. Boras got his ass handed to him yesterday with this signing! He, like the Tigers fans, has done nothing but bad-mouth this franchise at every turn. Now he's gotta eat crow! As does every Tigers fan out there pushing that same fake narrative. I'm also glad they gave the $$$ to a LHP SP who never gets hurt, and is willing to pitch 9 innings whenever his team needs him to. Skubal doesn't deserve it! Not after he pulled himself outta Game 5 versus the M's when he was still hitting 99mph in the 7th inning. That pansy move told me all I needed to know about him. Don't let the door hit you on the way out Tarik! I hope they trade him to the Pirates so he'll never win a WS.

  12. I would like this to mean they are taking a shot at WS by keeping Skubal. Then at the trade deadline go for a bat. But what this does is gives you flexibility to do a number of things. If you trade Skubal you still have that ace and arguably could be better this year without him depending on the return. This also gives you an ace for possibly a couple more years before Jobe is ready to take over as an ace (hopefully). We would also need future starting pitchers for next year anyway seeing as 3 of our opening rotation starters are free agents anyway.

  13. Outside of Lolich's '68 WS heroics, my fondest memories of him include the"71 season with over 300 strikeouts. One game in particular stood out vs the Orioles, when he was amidst fanning a dozen Os prompting their firey manager Earl Weaver to have the game stopped so that the HP ump could check Mickey for illegal substances or objects. He of course found nothing!!😅

RIP Mr. Lolich. You will always be one of my most favorite Tiger players!!

  14. Another comment, mickey lolich pitched about 6 yrs of great ball. Skubal 2 yrs for skubol.of great ball. Hope to sign skubol for 4 yrs for more then Valdez is right answer. Boros and other owners will ruin this with long contract and skubol will most likely get hurt and get his overpaid millions ….

  15. History has shown Skubal’s trade value is not that great. He is a 1 year rental. This trade allows them to go for it this year and still field a somewhat competitive team next year ( if baseball is played). Baseball is broken and a salary cap is absolutely essential. It has made the NFL a competitively balanced league.

  16. I love the fans. They complain this team doesn't spend money then cry about this lol I get skubal isn't signed but we dont know whats going on with him.

  17. The 3 year deal does show they have the money to spend just went with the strategy of not spend to win which didn't work well based on how both 2024 and 2025 ended having lack of offense and pitching depth.

  18. You just paid 115 million a pitcher that nobody else wanted. You want to pay 19 million for the best pitcher in baseball. Here are your choices, either take Emment Sheehan for Skubal now or a low round draft pick in 2027. Because, the Dodgers have a easy 400 million waiting for Skubal. Think about it who would you play for, a team that won’t pay what your worth and been to the playoffs 2 years in a row or a team that had won the world series 2 years in a row and will be happy to give you 400 million dollars
