That’s great, but I hope it’s not a big factor when they consider a new GM. I hope they go all out and get a big name. Like Lindsey, Brad Stevens, Bob Myers etc.. last 2 are pipe dreams but someone well known and respected around the league. Riccardi could be assistant GM like before.
Of course it was a Plano Wildcat behind the trade!
It honestly feels like Finley was given the assistant GM title purely because of his history with the franchise. I don’t think I’ve ever actually heard him speak about basketball operations, and I’ve always wondered how much he’s really involved.

Not sure it takes a highly talented GM to do this deal. I like that we moved off AD but it was a glorified salary dump which I think was always something the Mavs could do either at the deadline or this offseason.
Now if we had gotten a real FRP or two or a talented young player then that would get Riccardi my admiration.
