Sochan has had Stan’s for far too long. I like him but I hope this is a wake-up call to them. This dude is on a rookie contract and is still a negative asset who we’ll have to buyout cuz no-one was even willing to take a flyer on him for a second.
looking forward to another 4 months of sochan slander!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think ya worry too much about a player that is on a rookie contract. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Whole lotta of teams just running in place.
Nothing? We’re ahead of schedule but not even a tiny improvement?

Can’t wait to witness more terrorist basketball by Mr. 0%
My guess is that the front office is happy enough with where we are. We still have the 3rd best record in the nba and 2nd in the west, despite our age, lack of a good 4 and awful 3pt shooting. I think we’ll look again in the off season but I’d say we’re still in a partial rebuild and hopefully can address some of those issues in the draft. Other than that I also think we couldn’t find anyone who would want to take Sochan or Olynyk without giving up some picks and I don’t think that’s something the FO wants to do unless they’re getting someone worth it.
Damn it. Wanted that rainbow hair kid off the team. He’s trash and anybody defending him isn’t a real fan
Fine with not wasting any real assets to improve around the edges of the roster. Not surprised, but it does suck that we couldn’t find any type of swap to be made using Sochan’s expiring.
We couldnt trade Sochan for Dieng or Minott?? Anyways hope Sochan is back and start performing better. Gsg
front office should take the 2nd round in the draft more seriously. if memphis, okc, and charlotte can find guys that fit their rotation that low in the draft so can the spurs.
I mean it was a pretty good trade deadline in the sense that not too many of the West playoff teams actively got better
The wolves did, but I don’t think McCain is going to get many minutes on a healthy OKC. I don’t think the warriors got better unless porzingus suddenly learns how to stay healthy
We’re one of the best teams in the west, we’re young and improving constantly, and none of our competitors really moved. The needle a ton
This was always going to be the most realistic best case scenario considering how conservative we are as a franchise and how early we are in this process
With Kelly Olynyk expiring and 3 second round picks this year I thought we would do something, even if it didn’t change the regular rotation
Everything went well for Okc looking to the draft. Utah improved by adding Jaren Jackson and their pick goes to Okc if it falls outside the top 8. And clippers shipped off Harden and Zubac, their pick is unprotected. Hopefully we don’t see the Thunder get two Lottery picks while also potentially having Sorber and Topic next year. Seems like the rest of the league wants to build Oklahoma a dynasty
People were pounding the table for the Spurs to trade picks for this man last season.
This is gonna be the team we’re gonna make a run in the playoffs. I can see ourselves making the semi’s at best but I’d love to be proven wrong!
Guess we’ll be saving our moves for the summer so we can chill in the mean while!
there are two trades that bother me here, vis a vis our western conference foes. one, i really like the ayo trade for minnesota, the dude can shoot and play POA defense and bolsters what was a thin bench . two, the thunder taking a flyer on mccain by getting rid of picks they simply don’t need was a nice move for them. mccain could just have been a flash in the pan and if that turns out so, then it doesn’t really move the needle for the thunder. but i don’t think he can be given up on yet and he’s ended up in a good development system.
I wish we got Trey Murphy, well at least we still have the offseason
/u/squandasnutcheese can you or another mod set up an automod daily discussion post? Or weekly that stays stickied? I’d like to chat to other fans about random spurs stuff without having to make my own post and stuff and I know a lot of other teams subreddits have these threads and they’re quite active
Look, I get not wanting to give up assets.
However, a player like Jock was acquired for nothing but cash, and could have made marginal improvements over a player like Biyombo or Olynk. I thought there were multiple players moved for second round picks that could have made marginal improvements. We have too many seconds to use anyways.
Doing absolutely nothing was arrogant, anytime you have a realistic shot – you should do anything you can to improve as long as your not hamstringing your future.
OKC traded for Plumlee and Jared McCain and only traded out draft picks and Dieng. They have to cut someone b/c they have 16 on the roster now.
Looking at trades for contenders:
1. OKC: lose Dieng, gain Plumdog and McCain. I don’t think either gets any minutes.
2. Spurs. -_-
3. Nuggets: Salary dumped Hunter Tyson
4. Rockets. No moves.
5. Wolves: add Ayo Dosmunmu; lose Conley, Dillingham, Leonard Miller. May sign Conley in buyout market.
6. Lakers: Add Luke Kennard, lose Gabe Vincent. Upgrades shooting, downgrades defense.
7. Suns: Salary dumps
8. Warriors: Add Kristaps for TJD, Hield, Kuminga.
Wolves are the only team that got better, but Ayo not great on defense. Lakers are 7th on offense and 24th on defense and got worse on defense and a better shooter added to their white bread team.
1. Detroit added Kevin Heurter. Cool.
2. NYK added Alvarado for Yabusele, cash and two seconds.
3. Boston added Vooch for Simons and cut their end of bench guys to get under tax.
4. Cavs added Harden, Schroeder, Keon Ellis for Lonzo Ball, Hunter, and Garland. Win, but they got a lot smaller, too. I’m sweating a James Harden team in the Finals.
5. 76ers – Salary dumped Jared McCain and Eric Gordon.
6. Raptors – Chris Paul and TJD for Agbjai
7. Heat. No moves.
8. Magic – Salary dumped Tyus Jones.
So of the top 16 teams in the league, really only the Wolves, Cavs, and Knicks did anything notable that could help their team this year. Cavs certainly did the most to improve, but they are in the East. Not a single player moved on that list is someone I feel bad about missing out on to add to our rotation this year.
I knew we’d end up with fuck all 😂
We have 2 months to improve 3 pt shooting or 3 pt defense. Making strides in either will be a surprise championship. Go Spurs Go!
I wanted the spurs to get:
Bobby Portis (trade)
Cam Thomas (F.A)
(This add some size at the 4, and some shooting especially when our guards have a shooting slump.)
We would trade to the Bucks:
Scohan
Olynk
2 Second rounds
But we can still get Cam Thomas, Should we?
Yabusele gave up his player option for next year in order for Chicago to trade for him. That option was supposedly the sticking point on Sochan/Knicks discussions.
He’s probably headed back overseas.
I feel like if David Jones Garcia was healthy, someone would have been traded and he would have been signed. Him getting injured + the recent play of Carter, it made sense to stand pat

He’s available for a bag of Doritos now.
