Mac Jones has had multiple chances with multiple teams being the #1 QB and he’s clearly proved he’s not up for the task. He had maybe 5 decent games with the 49ers. I don’t get the infatuation with him at all. JJ McCarthy needs one more season to prove he’s our guy. Prove he can stay healthy and lead our team. Nobody’s gonna work harder than JJ this off-season. He looks great the last two months. He has so much potential it’s insane. He’s super young. He’s a sponge he’ll learn quickly. Bringing Kyler in? Hell no. With his contract and what we’d have to trade to get him. Absolutely not. Neither with Malik. He said some good games as a backup.. cool
Giving up on JJ already would be the dumbest thing we could possibly do.
He’ll make everybody eat their words next season. The dude is a killer. He feeds off adversity and people doubting him. He’s a guy and he’ll prove it.
Burrow or bust!!
I'm interested to see what JJ looks like next year. At the end the last game against the Packers you saw him telling Jettas they had work to do in the offseason. And now he's been getting absolutely HAMMERED since then and you know he's seeing it. Just knowing that kids resolve and how bad he wants it , I hope they don't give up on him and let him compete for it!!
Darnold has arm talent of a top pick I don’t think Jones does Kyler does but can’t see over the Oline.
Born in 61
Been a fan since little league when i was on the vikes for three years favorite is alan page
Would love a super bowl win before i die
Must have a young qb that is in the top 5 qbs to win a superbowl
When they get older the cap kills your team
Jacobee Brissett is a name to watch also. Guy likes to chuck it
So of murray jones and mccarthy who fits this scenario
If not set up to draft another
Decs knows more about Disney than he does football
Please refresh my memory. (You may need to go back to Judd's 2024 camp notes.) Wasn't there some discussion in the 2024 training camp that JJ was looking better than expected, and that he might be named the starter over Sam? That may have simply been sideline scuttlebutt, but I recall some form of that discussion. If JJ had not torn his miniscus (providing opportunity for a redshirt year), the entire dialogue–including Seattle pursuing Sam–may be considerably different. If some form of that training camp conversation is true, what changed between knee rehab and the second season. That would surely make it look like the coaching staff dropped the ball almost completely.
You know whats crazy to me. Outside the slim chance of landing Joey B. (.000000000001%), Why not stick with JJM? It hilarious on this hate campaign on him all over the internet. ITS YEAR TWO of his rookie contract and his first year of getting meaningful reps.
I get it he had an okay year overall, loaded with poor mechanics, bad decisions, but he was also lights out another good chunk. But we're out after year two because we're so scared of Ponder 2.0. Come on fellas. We NEED to stick this out. Get a meaningful backup 100% agreed. Give JJM these last two seasons of his contract outside the 5th year option to prove himself. Only then should we move on from him.
Honestly just sign Kirk as a comfort pick for a backup. People hate him whatever. He did a decent job while he was here but he'll be a great mentor for JJM.
FOR ONCE PURPLE DAILY AND OTHER VIKING CASTS PLEASE. Look at JJM and his potential and possible upside instead of wanting to bench, or boot his ass out the door. I'm sick of buying into temporary bridge QBs because we want to win now. BREAK THE CYCLE!
I'm in on Kyler as long as the Cardinals give us their 2027 1st round pick and pay his remaining salary.
Maybe Kwesi got fired because KOC an him were too good of friends and Kevin would ask him to go YOLO and overpay for a seasoned QB and save his job . The Wilfs are not stupid. What if they wanted to force his hand to only keep his job by developing JJ. I would not be surprised if the cavalry is not coming
In the snake draft…. Remember the titans is a top 3 all time movie for me so I stand with Mackey!!!
at best Kyler Murray would be option 40
Powerline is a great pick. Literally just showed those movies to my kids 2 days ago and they loved the music. Proud parent moment!
Johnny Football for G M.
Vikings fans claiming they wouldn't be in the Super Bowl with Sammy is such a typical sore Ioser answer. First, Seahawks were projected to win just 7 games this season as their O-line was ranked 30th and receivers group 29th (Vikings ranked 15th & 3rd, respectively).
Second, Vikings were in same exact situation in 2024 as Seahawks…. 1 road win away from #1 seed and 2 home wins from Super Bowl. Difference is Sammy played much better this season. SO stop with these lame revisionist buII.
People can talk about some cheating with Bellichek but what made the Patriot Dynasty was his willingness to change scheme year to year based on his roster. They won early super bowls with defense and Brady as a game manager. Later they still had solid defense but Brady was elite. He started the run with a 3/4 defense, shifted to 4/3 and then went back to 3/4. You have to being willing to change your scheme to maximize your roster.
W thumbnail grab for the YT upload
What sucks is we'll end up being an 11 win team in a year that's full of great quarterbacks in the draft and we'll miss out….. Again…
You can cut hock post June 1st and trade greenard post june 1. Do a restructure of jefferson, extend O'Neil, do the obvious cuts and still have 50+ mill this year and 70+ next year. Phil is too afraid of june 1st designation.
No Simba in the snake draft is a real shame
We finally get to see Judd's Rosebud.
Hope the vikings draft Diego Pavia, lose every game and draft Jilian Sayin in '27. Another thing Spencer Rattler would be a good fit. He played good on the saints with no playmakers
JJ McCarthy
Declan s kid will be lucky to see the Vikings win a SB!
Vikings receive
• Deshaun Watson
• 2026 3rd-round pick
Browns receive
• 2026 5th-round pick
• Conditional 2027 4th (becomes 3rd if Watson plays 65%+ snaps)
⸻
Money breakdown (this is the key)
• Browns convert salary to bonus before trade
• Browns eat ~$25–30M per year for multiple seasons
• Vikings take on ~$18–22M/year cap hit (QB-middle-tier money)
Minnesota is stuck with McCarthy because of all the money he was promised and now he is injury prone and a bust to other teams
12:15 Danny Dimes too
Do not sign Kyler Murray I'm Vikings fan that lives in Phoenix ! Bad Idea and expensive.
Stop with the Kyler Murray to Vikings nonsense, please. There is no chance they want that guy in there quarterback room period
Mac Jones or Malik Willis
Fact is, coach had the players he had. It was then his job to get the best out of the players he had. He didn’t do that. Nothing to do with coddling. Play to win. Adjust. Run the ball.
My problem is with this podcast and every other Vikings podcast you guys are continually missing the point in order for the Vikings to even think about the playoffs. They need a starting safety that is currently not on the roster a starting center that is currently not on the roster. It does not matter. If you have all world got Brady back there behind this current offensive line he will fail so it makes no sense to spend any money on a quarterback position other than bare minimum to back up until you fix that offensive line for good and get your starting safety.
if OConnell does not learn to run the ball on 3rd and short from week 1 we are not going anywhere
