NY Jets draft film review: Rueben Bain over Arvell Reese?

  1. Paywall.

But honestly, Bain Jr is the way to go. I was all about Reese, but now seeing how well Bain did against the run AND pass… I feel like he’s the guy. Not saying Reese won’t be good, I just think Bain’s skill set is safer. Any questions about his arm length is overblown. He dominated against some very good OTs.

It’s Bain Jr, Reese, Bailey, Tate or trade down, in that order.

  2. At some point, the constant push for Reese as a guy “who projects as an edge” at the next level is going to die down. I get why people would want that to happen, but they have people trying to compare him to guys he’s not actually like (and are basically unicorns) to say why he can make a super difficult transition without having the size or showing the consistent skills for it. Guys don’t just figure out how to be great edge rushers because they kind of look like it.

I think he could be a really good stand up linebacker with the ability to rush the passer from anywhere across the LOS, which is also valuable. Holding him to the belief that he’s a true edge is going to set unrealistic expectations.

  3. I’m in on Bain as the pick at 2. Brings the nastiness and the pain. Can play inside/outside and the run/pass.

We need an enforcer on D and Bain is that guy.

  4. I really think both are the wrong answer. No lb short of LT himself would save us

Trade down. We need a dozen young, talented players all untouched by the complete stench of idiocy, failure and laziness that permeates this organization.

Picking up an EXTRA 1 and 2 gives us a total of 10 picks in the first two rounds bt now and next year.

Of course if Bain or Reese turn out to be a transcendent talent, that’d be better than an extra 1 and extra 2. I don’t see that from either

And for God’s sake get gd football junkies. Enough w the high RAS MElijah Moore and wmd types who don’t love football but love themselves

Glenn cut his teeth as a scout. He and mougey seem like it’s their best skill atm. Soo lean on it

  5. Bain is a disrupter and not a finisher bc hes a fat bull rush specialist that dominated against college tackles. Put that guy in the nfl and now all of a sudden hes one dimensional af. Hes a fat guy with no bend who power rushed everyone and got away with it, but that just wont fly in the nfl. Bain is a fine player and hell be a good pro but i think its very questionable hes a first round talent. He mighta set a record for pressures but its very easy to see why and very hard to see how his one trick translates to the nfl. Js

  6. No we need LB’S who can cover and stop the run more than anything else besides CB’S who can cover in Man Coverage. So Arvell Reese is the pick. We can wait for edge rushers especially since we don’t know if Mougey will keep Will McDonald or Jermaine Johnson, that decision will effect the 2027 draft. Mauigoa can stop the run but can’t cover. Sherwood doesn’t do either well and Quincy Williams wants to go and we need to replace him too. So LB has to be a top priority along with WR2 and a starting Guard. I hope we can get either Devin Lloyd or Nakobe Dean in FA to help fix this so we can at least stop the run.
