Past proposals in St. Pete and Ybor City have failed but this time, this one is planned to be built right in the city of Tampa! How can this one possibly fail?!?!? As a Yankees fan, I’m rooting for the Rays to get this done because I’m a huge advocate for MLB expansion!!!

God I hope so. It NEEEEEEDS to be in Tampa and not St. Pete…
Don’t you realize? This is why they’ve been cheap since their inception… right?
Definitely
Bold to call it a forever home when Florida will be underwater with the rate climate change is going
I got a lengthy survey from Rays yesterday, probably because I bought tickets a couple months ago. The tenor of the questions was only in regards to Tampa. It looks like they are gauging fans from throughout the area but might be more concerned with St. Petersburg fans. My impression after doing the survey is that Tampa is a done deal but they are very concerned about people who have been attending at the Trop and whether they will travel.
“The Big Slice”
Oh boy. Another Sofi stadium. 😐
Definitely maybe
If it does. I’ll prob go to like 5 games a year opposed to 1 every 2 years right now.
I swear this is the 3rd rendering of the new rays stadium that I have seen in this decade
Only if they figure out a scam to pawn it off onto the taxpayers
I have no special insights regarding this deal, but simply judging from past history I’d guess the odds aren’t great.
The Rays are the world champions of stadium renderings.
Do Rays fan prefer the location of where their old stadium was or where the Yankees spring stadium is?
I’m rooting for them to get it done but I have serious doubts. It’s a $2.3B Sofi masquerading as a ballpark that the team says that they’ll cover 50% plus cost overruns. I highly doubt that this will only cost that, it’s probably more likely to cost $3-4B. Maybe the new owners are significantly more competent than the previous ones, we’ll see.
If it does go in Tampa then yes
I like the guitar pick stadium, but I feel like it’s not going to happen.
I’m saying yes. Kind of optimistic that this is the plan that finally gets the okay

I like the stadium looking like a sting ray design.
Yes. Tampa politicians can be bought like any other. Just put in a tourist tax.
Why do they require a dome?
I think this stadium plan is the closest they have realistically ever been
As a Yankees fan too, I really hope so. This stadium is absolutely beautiful & the Rays would finally fit in with the rest of the AL East for having great stadiums. Camden Yards is perfection, Yankee Stadium is iconic, Fenway is historic, the Rays need a modern beauty to complete the set.
Advocating for expansion is advocating for the sport to become watered down. 30 teams is enough.
Am I the only one that thinks building a giant glass dome in a area prone to hurricanes isn’t a good idea?
Why the glass roof in a hurricane zone?
Melbourne here – I will be much more willing to drive to a game in Tampa. The current stadium is too far and makes the drive untenable. (Have gone to about 10 Rays home games over 5 years.)
