Rapoport: “Carr, 34, decided to retire last May due to a labral tear in his shoulder and damage to his rotator cuff, which could have been repaired via surgery but would’ve put his season in jeopardy. Since then, Carr took several months off to rest and sources say his shoulder has responded well, leading Carr to slowly begin rehabbing as the season unfolded. His shoulder has now improved to the point where he is throwing fully as part of his regular exercise routine. Teams have learned Carr currently has no shoulder limitations.”

  1. Carr was so much better than any QB we've had since Pennington that it's not even worth discussing. If he's healthy enough to play and really wants to play, he'd be fine to start in 2026 as long as we're grooming a highly drafted QB in back of him. He's also have a lot to teach any such draft pick.

  2. This is a horrible idea. Frank Reich went QB roulette with Indy after Luck. Matt Ryan. Phillip Rivers. Carson Wentz. Carr coming off an injury and retirement? Nah. Especially if we have to trade for him. Would rather work out a trade for Jacoby Brissett, who Reich has personal experience with.

  3. Anybody saying Derek Carr isn’t an option assumes we have options. Any QB we draft this upcoming season will not start if Glenn wants to keep his job. Kyler Murray feels like the Justin Fields experiment and we saw how that went. Cousins, Carr, and these other veteran QBs that can understand defenses and make reads can win 6-9 games and save Glenn’s job for another year.

  4. Definitely a possibility to consider Carr, assuming his arm is healed. All we're looking for is a bridge QB until our 2027 draft QB arrives, so why not?

  5. So if Carr comes back, does that mean Davante will come back? 😂 With the Jets" luck, he will wreck his knee in his first home game due to the turf. How about.bringing Namath or Kenny O'brien back?

  6. Carr was a decent QB, but to be honest he was so banged up I don't think he physically is capable of playing well any more. It could be being off this season he feels healthy ,but it is a big concern.

  7. I think this would make a TON of sense for us. He would win enough to keep AG job, and keep us growing setting a standard for the future and culture. Also at that point we would sit Nuss or Simpson whichever we draft. I would be all over this if I were the Jets . Having to eat some contract we could probably get him for a 5th.

  8. Absolutely not!! Jets need to not draft a QB this year build up the team at all area if need, as much as possible le and draft their franchise guy next year. Getting a QB in to win 7-8-9 games will put you in QB purgatory, and we will just go through the never wnding cycle of not having one.

  9. Take Cousins he’s a free agent. Avoid Ty Simpson too frail and not a cold weather player. Take a flyer on Drew Allar in the mid rounds. He’s 6’5”, strong, has 36 starts and a rocket arm. Plus he can play in cold weather. If he fails no big deal. Draft your franchise quarterback in round one in 2027.
