Leave it to good ole Randy not Bullock to drudge up some PTSD. 10 years ago when Gary won with the Broncos, naturally said to myself “where the hell was that in Houston”. And now that his son won one it is confirmed that winning is in Kub’s DNA. Of course the Texans secondary was swiss cheese for most of his tenure but I remember they were good for a couple of years when Wade Philips was the DC. The NFL pre Covid was so crazy I don’t think any team would stick with a QB for as long as the Texans stuck with Matt Schaub, Im pretty sure he broke the record for most pick sixes in a season like why didnt Kubiak or the GM can his ass?? This post is pure copium bc I’m seeing CJ Stroud & the Texans trend on X bc the world knows the Texans would’ve put up a better fight. 😭 (I don’t know how to do paragraph on here sorry).

  1. Rick Smith wanted to bring in Peyton Manning before the 2012 season and Texans were his preferred target but Gary wanted to stick with Schaub. Denver went onto sign Peyton and the rest is history

  2. All I know is that Demeco Ryans has that same coward’s gene as Gary that made him not bench his starting QB.

  3. Matt Schaub could have brought us to the promised land until his foot got hurt. After that it was way over.

  4. Unfortunate injuries derailed a couple of the good seasons. If those injuries didn’t happen it may have turned out differently.

  5. Kubiak’s Texans were an amazing offense with a defense that couldn’t stop a college team until Wade got there. If Wade had signed another year or two earlier, I think they could have pulled it off.

  6. They were both good. Schaub got hurt and it threw a wrench in the team’s success.

Kubiak was a good coach. Not perfect, but good, and could lead a team to success with the right circumstance. He might have stuck with Schaub a little too long at the end and it cost him his job in Houston, but I have always felt the team jumped the gun by canning him so quickly; especially considering he ends up finding a good spot in Denver a few years later and wins a Super Bowl. He was always capable of it.
