Good morning, today is Monday February 9th! First game of Mets spring training is Saturday, February 21st at 1:10 against the Marlins. Opening day is Thursday, March 26th against the Pirates at Citi Field.
Mookie Wilson turns 70 today!
Todd Pratt turns 59 today! Todd Alan Pratt was drafted by the Red Sox in the 6th round of the 1985 draft and bounced around from Boston to Cleveland to Boston and Baltimore when he was picked up by the Phillies in the Rule 5 draft. He made his MLB debut on July 29, 1992 for the Phillies. After some time with the Cubs and Mariners organizations, he worked a part-time job delivering pizzas for Dominos and as an instructor at Bucky Dent's baseball academy when the Mets picked him up in December 1996. Pratt played for the Mets from 1997 to 2001, mostly as a backup catcher behind Todd Hundley and later, Mike Piazza. Pratt's most famous moment for the Mets was a game winning solo homer against Matt Mantei to end the 1999 NLDS. Good times, good times.
In 2001, the Mets traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies for Gary Bennett and played for the Phillies until 2005. He last appeared in the majors with the 2006 Atlanta Braves. Pratt was named in the Mitchell Report as a user of performance-enhancing drugs. He was a manager in the Miami Marlins organization for three seasons and is currently manager of the Glacier Range Riders in the Pioneer League. Glendon Rusch is also the pitching coach of the Riders!
Feel free to discuss whatever you want in this thread.

Anyone else absolutely buzzing for baseball right now? WBC is very soon and spring training games less than two weeks
Happy baseball season to you all
Lots of intriguing stories to come…
1. How many groan-worthy opening day roster decisions will there be?
2. What will the starting rotation plan be?
3. Carson Benge, Kodai Senga, Tobias Myers, Brett Baty and Kimbrel are the five biggest things to watch in how they put together the team.
Alright Mother Nature got the message, it’s spring. It’s baseball season. Warm this ice sheet up and melt it away.
The Pirates and slugger Marcell Ozuna are in agreement on a one-year, $12MM contract, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. The CAA client’s contract is pending a physical.

Brewers making room for Jett to be the opening day SS?
The Red Sox are acquiring infielder Caleb Durbin from the Brewers, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. Milwaukee receives a three-player package including lefties Kyle Harrison and Shane Drohan as well as infielder David Hamilton, Passan adds. Boston is also picking up infielder Andruw Monasterio, catcher/infielder Anthony Seigler and a Competitive Balance Round B pick, per Will Sammon of The Athletic.
The Giants traded Harrison to the Red Sox in the Rafael Devers trade in 2025.

Will be well prepared to boo Marcel Ozuna on opening day.
The [Pokémon commercial](https://youtu.be/J3O4ymaZ41Q?si=5lQzzH20pBy36-JB) was better than the actual game last night.
Makes me jealous that we don’t get those kinds of models and love in the animation in the actual games.
the asking price for baty/paredes must be high. the sox got a infielder they really needed. the pirates still need some help at 3b/2b looks like we might be holding on to baty and vientos.
Are we really about to let this team dictate our mental health for the next 9-10 months?
…
He says as if he isn’t already playing Meet the Mets and the SNY theme on loop

If Mendoza doesn’t show any growth as a manager this season, do we think they ride out his contract or do they cut losses at the first sign of a problem? For reference, this is the last year in his contract.
Got my tickets for Opening Day!
I had to pay $180 for an upper deck seat for Opening Day through the presale.
Is that normal for opening day??
I was afraid to wait it out like any other game…
Someone go tell Sotos team we don’t want pictures of him in the DR training , we want him bonding with the team in PSL ..!!!!
Had a heart attack looking at these presale prices for Opening Day
Hi all! My sis and I will be visiting NYC in May, and just booked two tickets to the Sunday Yankees game. Very much looking forward to it, and this will be my first visit to CitiField. If you have any bar recommendations pre-game, please do let me know.
Even though it will be my first time to CitiField, it will be my second Mets game (the first was the first London Series one v Phillies 🙂
Soon: P’s & C’s. Can’t wait.
Lol Paddack to the Marlins. Shame Pete isnt here anymore
