How Far Behind Are the Houston Texans After the Super Bowl? DeMeco Ryans CAN Win a Championship

After watching the Seahawks dominate the Super Bowl, one question keeps coming up: how far behind are the Houston Texans from reaching the ultimate pinnacle?

This isn’t a panic episode. And it’s definitely not a DeMeco Ryans hit piece.

DeMeco Ryans’ way can absolutely win Houston a championship. There’s no mystery there. Seattle’s defense isn’t doing anything Houston can’t do. The real difference is how the Seahawks built — and committed to — their offense.

Under Klint Kubiak, Seattle had a plan. They drafted for it. They staffed it. And they stuck to it.

That’s where the gap shows up.

John Schneider found five starting offensive linemen through the draft. Seattle took Charles Cross in the first round, Kenneth Walker in the second, and Abraham Lucas in the third — resulting in 313 rushing yards, four touchdowns, and just six combined pressures allowed by their tackles on the biggest stage.

Now compare that to Houston.

The Texans hit home runs with C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., but the offensive line remains a revolving door. Juice Scruggs and Kenyon Green haven’t stabilized the unit. Tank Dell has played just 25 games in three seasons. The foundation up front simply hasn’t been cultivated.

That’s on Nick Caserio.

So the real questions are:

Has Caserio done enough to support DeMeco’s vision?

Have DeMeco Ryans and Nick Caserio truly been aligned this whole time?

And can they finally move forward in unison during this championship window?

The Texans are not out of it.
But Caserio has to be better — starting now.

This episode breaks down why Houston fell short, why Seattle thrived, and why the Texans can still get it done if the front office matches the standard set by the head coach.

  1. I’d say we’re far away, offensively, because we can’t run the ball effectively nor can we protect CJ. If we picked up a starting mauler at center and an IOL, I think we could do 10-11 wins again. I honestly think the entire OL needs to be revamped and we need a stud TE that can block. We’re close, but Caserio needs advice from an offensive mind, whom, is not in the building.

  2. When the Texans ever decide to get a great offensive coordinator. That’s when we will make the superbowl run . Defense will be great and the offense will be good. We need more of a balance. But the window is closing. We have 2 years

  3. All those picks caserio accumulated and he passed on at least 2-3 good rbs last year. Their offensive scouting system sucks. Nico Collins is his only great offensive pick.

  4. I think Texans over performed this year, mainly the D won games. Can't see that being too consistent moving forward. Boils down to O-Line able to pass protect and run block. Figure out the RB situation, sign some OL/RB guys in FA. Draft a TE, some defensive backups, and maybe some OL help. The math works to get to the show, next year has to be an AFC championship game.

  5. I’d say if we had Joe Mixon, Tank Dell, Brevin Jordan, Nico Collins, Dalton Schultz, Tytus Howard, and Trent Brown from the divisional round moving forward, we’d have been playing in the Super Bowl. We were already there on paper, but were once again limited by the injury bug on offense. The O line play would have been slightly better and with all those weapons back on the field, CJ doesn’t have a historically bad game. Best thing we can do moving forward is get the offense healthy(and stay that way in the playoffs), upgrade the O line, and give CJ a couple more weapons on offense. You can add depth pieces on defense too (maybe at DT and S).

  6. Pretty dad gum Far!! D- Line needs to get better. Safety needs an upgrade. That Christen Gonzales safety saved 2 TD's by himself. Offense needs Help everywhere!!!
