40 players have worn #44 for the Phillies, Jesús Luzardo currently. Luzardo has played for the Phillies since 2025, pitching 183.2 innings over 32 games with an ERA of 3.92.
My dark horse Cy Young contender this year. He had 2 historically bad starts where he may have been tipping his pitches last season but outside of that he pitched like a top 10 pitcher for 90% of his starts.
If he puts everything together in a contract year he could be a real force this season.
Shaky beginning to a start against the FTMs, then goes and retires 20+ straight batters.
Easily made Ranger expendable as a starter from the left side.

More like WINzardo amirite?
I love you Jesús Luzardo
I want him to close out one game so I can unleash the 294 JESUS SAVES! jokes I have compiled.
Sure he had some bad starts. But he showed heart. Showed passion. Didn’t quit on himself after his bad starts, rather he fired himself up and figured it out. That’s what we love in a Phillies player
He doesn’t get enough credit for his relief appearance in game 4 of the NLDS. Limited rest and dude threw 1.2 innings of relief with 3Ks. Showed how much of a team player he is and he’ll always be respected by me for that. Wish the offense could’ve done something in those two innings.
I love Luzardo, not trying to be low effort or dumb, but is it safe to say he’s our number one for the beginning of the year? I assume he’s Opening Day Starter?
