He’s not a starter anymore, but he will likely be used deep in the pen with the option to be a “break in case of emergency” starter who goes 3 innings if injuries begin to pile up on the team.
I like this move, provided he isn’t a part of the starting rotation. Lets him retire with us which is what he wanted. If we can end his career with a World Series win, that would be a storybook ending for both Verlander and the fans.
