  1. Santander will probably be the guy who is better than we all expect – by default

I think Barger has the potential to hurt the most. I'm worried His likeability has shrouded his weaknesses. I will concede that going thru what he just did – may have elevated his floor.

He's definitely earned a leash, but he's also only got 2 small samples of success in his career; and both are a ridiculous 1.000+ ops.

The rest of his career, he's sub .700.

At no time has he been an .800ops guy and that's what everyone projects. What will we accept?

I'm far from saying it's not going to happen; but I hardly consider it a guarantee.

If you were to ask me if I wanted the stats of 2025 Barger on my 2026 team; I would have to say no. (Despite the ridiculous highlights – which I love)

I'm not trying to shade Barger; just posting my caution sign for the winter.

I think he would have been traded if they got Tucker. They Need him now.

  2. If Vlad gets little more under the ball I think he could hit 50 Home Runs. He almost did it in his third season and that in 161 games. Also, I think he will be sitting around 161 games .325 average, 105 runs, around 210 hits, 40 doubles, 50 home runs, 115 rbis, 90 walks, 90 strikeouts, 7 stolen bases, 2 caught stealing that is his batting stats. Playing at first I think he could 135 games at that position with 950 putouts, 80 assists and 7 errors. Also, I forget what will be his WAR the best case will be around 7 to 7.5. I can see him winning multiply awards, the most like to can win is SS for first base, GG for first base, AL MVP and Hank Aaron Award (best batting average). That is best case for his season could go.

  3. I don't think Vlad is the best 1B in MLB…I think that's Freddie Freeman. I don't agree with him being #5, though. I might put him #2 or #3 depending on where Kurtz is ranked, and definitely ahead of Harper and Olson. That's a bad list.

Where do the Jays rank? Probably second behind Boston. Boston has quite a few good young homegrown players that are likely to take leaps, and making up 5 games isn't out of the question for them. I have it:

    Boston
    Jays
Yankees (the Grisham QO handcuffed them more than they thought, and too many guys are getting too old too fast)
    Baltimore (they still need pitching)

    Tampa

The thing is that no order among the top 4 would be a horrible shock. Any one of these teams could be 1st, any one could be 4th. All of the teams have strengths, and all have some pretty big warts. It's going to be bunched up right to the wire.

  4. I saw Vladdy's offseason transformation coming from a mile away. I was going to mention all the reasons why in this comment, but I'll put that in a separate comment below for anyone interested in why I saw this coming.

But I feel Vladdy is set to have a big year. We've already seen what he is capable of in 2021 and this past postseason, and I feel we're going to be seeing more of that in the years to come. When Vladdy is motivated, he's as dangerous as anyone in baseball. I think this past postseason was a wakeup call to himself in regards to his own true potential, and that will only feed his motivation and overall mindset. And now that he is transforming his body, that will only help propel his goals going forward.

With that said, while his transformation is good progress, I'd like to see him work on his lower body a bit more. He generates so much of his power and bat speed from his lower body, and I think that will be key for him moving forward. If his lower half begins to match the gains he's made on his upper body, look out.

To me, in regards to Vladdy's potential, the sky is the limit, and the only limitations are between his ears and the amount of time he puts in at the gym. But I personally feel we are about to enter a new era of Vladdy's true potential.

  5. Do yourself a favour and talk a little slower, be more focused and relax. Doing a piece on one players is a good idea. Also, stop looking at every player whose ever held a bat and a glove as being a good addition to the club. I use to lived and work in China as a teacher and one of the things I taught my students was the following.
Think First. Speak Second. Think First. Write Second. Think First. Do Second. But Always, Think First. Think about this and ask yourself if you could be better then
you are and if you could be then become the better version of yourself that you can be. The End. Good-Luck and Good-Bye.

  6. Vladdy regular season stats don't terrified me . He needed two weeks off before the playoffs to be able to produce. He would've went hitless if we had to face the red sox in the wild card.
