  1. Sign Bassitt to a similar contract Verlander recently signed with the Tigers for 1-year, $13 million with $11M reportedly deferred.

    Offer 1-year, $20M with $18M deferred.

  5. It's not "behind us". This has been going on for years under the surface and bubbled up late last season. Berrios is good enough to be a #4 starter for now, but he's going to have to be moved or this will come up again and he deserves a different opportunity. If you're going to do anything, trade Berrios plus plus for an offensive upgrade somewhere (if it exists) and sign Bassitt to cover him off.

  9. Those three injured players – are carryovers' from last season. Not a big deal.
    But that's two starters down – remember all the people saying "we don't need another starter!"???
    How come everyone is not saying "Trade Springer" this spring training like they did last? ..let that be a lesson in how nobody knows how to evaluate players – the truth is, Spring will relapse. Trading him now would be the best move.
    It's like when you have a ticket winning on Fanduel (let say it pays 500 hundy), they are offering 350 to cash out – but you are hanging in there certain what just happened, will continue to happen. Truth is, less than 7% chance at winning that 500 hundy … cash out at peak times!

  10. Lucky we traded Roden away for Ty.
    A few Jays youngster must step in and play an important role this season (Tiedeman comes to mind – MUST BE a starter), usually one guy comes through in spring as a surprise, Jays need it! Two out of spring would be better. Schneider must play a bigger role, be better at the plate, we need a big stick from him this season. (Lops, Clase, McAdoo, Schreck, and a couple others) these guys are getting long in the tooth, this is the year to secure an important role or cut ties with them. And last on the heap pile of crap – are the "invitee's" – lets pray one comes through. Is this the year (contract year) Varsho decides to hit at least .250??? with nice power numbers? Or another minor league stick with 20 jacs and 50 RBI' year?

    Losing Santander isn't anything big, he rarely played last year. Lukes gets more playing time

    Losing Bieber isn't anything big, he barely pitched last year too. Berrios and Ponce cover for a month untill he's ready. Anyone remember Easton Lucas?

    Losing Francis isn't anything Big, he barely pitched last year too. And if he needed to be called on in 2026, then we were in a spiral anyway.

    We upgraded the SP in the off-season.

    Lukes deserves LF anyway

    The addition of Okamoto is going to make many forget about Bo.

  12. I would sign Bassitt and come to an agreement with Scherzer to sign him sometime during the season, based on need (injury, inconsistent performance, etc). As for the outfield situation, I see this as an opportunity to field test Joey Loperfido, Nathan Lukes, Davis Schneider, and Jonatan Clase… maybe even RJ Schreck, before considering going out and looking to trade for someone like Alec Burleson from the Cardinals, which could possibly be a trade-deadline move.
