[Stein] A source close to Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont tells @TheSteinLine tonight that “the team is not for sale and the (Adelson and Dumont) families look forward to expanding their ownership stake over time.”

  1. The entire story is so dumb. A group of unnamed investors are praying to team up with Cuban to buy the team back from ownership. Wouldn’t be shocked if said investors are just fans from our subreddit lol.

  2. Expanding their stake. This reminds me of the office when Michael was dating Pam’s mom. I can see dumont sitting in his office looking at fan reactions saying “I’m gonna own them even harder”

  3. Money talks and these people worship it. If Cuban and Co pony up an obscene enough offer I doubt the ghouls stay unwilling

  4. What incentive would they have to say anything else? Yeah we wanna sell, offer us less money?

  5. Fuck these abominations, the Dalllas city don’t deserve this misery.

I HATE the fact that Coop basically makes the people of Dallas “kinda” forget what they did to them, life isn’t fair.

  6. Posturing. My guess is they’re already in negotiations. They poisoned their relationship with the city. They’d be stupid to think Dallas would ever forgive them. Admit you fucked up, make a bag, and get out. Go buy the grizzlies or something. Or just keep a minority share.

  7. Big bank > little bank.
Ultimate checkmate power move. Spelling out their next moves for cubes.

  8. Saying what they are supposed to say. They know the city will never want them and they would be much better off selling and getting the Vegas team. Why would they give the buyers any leverage whatsoever?

  9. I hate what happened too but the response in the thread is confusing

They have no obligation to sell something they bought fair and square

The hatred you feel belongs on Mark Cubans shoulders and nobody else

This is just a sad act by Mark to look like a hero

  10. Nah it ain’t gonna last. Fans have been somewhat pacified by the fortuitous and good events of the past however many months since the lottery win. But news of a possible sale is the only nugget they need to be galvanized yet again, this time with no one else to blame, no one else to hide behind. There’s only one villain left standing: the Adelsons.

And as we’ve seen before, the people have power. Bring the vampires into the light and they shrivel and whither away. The fans will act, and the Adelsons will run away and scurry back into the darkness like the cockroaches they are.

  11. This was pretty obvious. People here really think kicking out a billionaire is that easy? Lol

  12. >expanding their ownership stake

Didn’t Stein say in the contract of the sale that the Adelsons can buy out 20% of Mark’s remaining 27% stake of ownership in the Mavs in the first 4 years? Is that what Patrick is alluding to?

  13. People got too consumed with Nico hatred. Bro really thinks he’s a part of the “We” and not the “Them”.

  14. Just when I thought I might be coming back to see a game live, that idea just evaporated instantly with this article.

  15. Anyone who thought this had a chance of happening is just delusional. Its going to take an astronomical number way above than what they initially bought for to even have a small chance of considering to sell.
