  1. They are the most blatant tanking team in history. We were starting to get close to them and they just had to guarantee they kept their pick this year.

Learn to ethically tank like our guys by just being bad

  2. This might not necessarily a good thing for the Jazz long term. It is a real knee surgery. I wish JJJ long term health!

  3. I’m beginning to view this as our version of relegation. If you suck bad enough you have to play your G league players all season and your stars have to sit out. They are essentially fielding a jr level team and punishing their stars.

  4. God, how terrible is our medical staff that nobody notices Trip has a tumor growing in his knee (presumably for some time), but then the Utah doctors take one look at him and immediately notice the issue?

  5. Guys it’s fucking surgery. It’s not like the Jazz are forcing him to get SURGERY just to tank

  6. This is a tumor that he has to have knee surgery on. I get the tank meme and all that but if it’s true then it’s just a stroke of bad luck.

  7. Man fuck the Jazz. They need to lose their first round pick for pulling all this bullshit

  8. Prayers for Trip for a full recovery! This was what they reportedly found on MRI during his trade physical (from UptoDate.com):

    TENOSYNOVIAL GIANT CELL TUMOR

Tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT), historically known as pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS), is a rare but well-recognized proliferative lesion of synovial tissue. Due to the presence of a characteristic translocation TGCT is considered to be a clonal neoplastic lesion; it can recur locally and cause substantial morbidity, but metastases are rare.

If this is really what it is, it a good thing they caught it. Here’s what it says about management:

Treatment-naïve patients — In patients with treatment-naïve TGCT, the principal treatment modality is resection. Although limited data support the efficacy of radiation therapy, we do not offer this approach due to the risks of long-term toxicity and the availability of alternative systemic therapies for unresected and/or relapsed disease.

Diagnosis is via MRI; this is serious and a big deal, but if caught early complete resection will allow him to make a good recovery, even though the article says that recurrence is possible.🙏🏾

  9. Im hearing it’s actually a rather serious issue. It’s some sort of growth in his knee that isnt causing pain, but has a high chance of reccurance even after removal. Some sort of tumor. Who knows what this can turn into, and how they will manage him from here on out. I find it hard to believe our medical staff didn’t know about this, and we essentially just robbed Utah in broad daylight.

  10. I mean… you can’t fake surgery I would think. Unless they just say he’s “mulling through his options” the rest of the season.

Regardless, I’m ok with these teams tanking. They literally lose an asset if they don’t and it’s to the thunder. The only ones I would say ethically are doing it bad is the kings, but I think they are just pure shit and pelicans are trash as well.

    Pacers:top 4 protected-10-30(clippers 5-9)

    Wizards:top 8 protected(Knicks)

    Jazz:top 8 protected(OKC)

The NBA needs to get rid of protections altogether. Some of these deals being made incentivizes teams to tank. Pick swaps are fine because neither team controls their destiny. Some of these deals are just weird.
