  1. Since you have to scroll WAY down to find the blurb, here ya go:

    Changes in team control

Teams approved two changes in controlling owners: Cincinnati Reds CEO Phil Castellini succeeds his father

Minnesota Twins board member Tom Pohlad takes over from takes over from his younger brother Bob.

Manfred said of the San Diego Padres’ sale process: “There is robust interest in what is viewed as a really appealing asset.”

  2. – No playoff series wins
    – Sub .500 record
    – Taunted fans who noted how shitty he is at his job

With a résumé like that, it was only a matter of time!

  3. A part of me feels like this is why they spent the money and signed Suarez. Makes it look like Phil had a had in that and the casual fan make even believe that. I expect more of the same but with more dumbass comments mixed in.

  4. While I was trying my best to be optimistic after the Suarez signing, this news makes the Reds MLB’s biggest off season loser.

Cool, so we have Phil the Groundhog, who see’s his shadow every year and states “We will not be spending any more money this offseason”

  6. Bet they didn’t have any Xavier fans in the audience for that announcement. 😄

  7. To be fair, Bob probably hasn’t truly run the team in years due to his age not to mention the fact that he has always looked
 a little special.

Still, another generation of nepotism won’t be healthy for this franchise. I can’t think of many scenarios when someone was handed tremendous wealth by their family and they ended up being any good at their business ventures. It turns out a life of privilege doesn’t prepare you for success like the challenges the older generation faced when they became successful.

  8. Phil is sleazy enough to sell his majority share to an owner that would pull out of Cincinnati, I’m sure of it.

This is a case of failing up in life. I don’t know how you could be so bad at being a public figurehead, and still gain this much power.

  9. Well, at least our “sell the team” pleas won’t get confused with Pittsburgh’s now.

  10. At least Bob seemed to try for a while. I bet Phil doesn’t even bother trying to convince people he’s putting in any effort.

  11. Gotta love nepotism. Phil is an absolute moron and should be nowhere near ownership of something like an mlb team.
