Cincinnati Reds Named Fit for Nick Castellanos — But It Would Be a Mistake
The Philadelphia Phillies released former All-Star Nick Castellanos, and MLB Network insider Jon Heyman mentioned the Cincinnati Reds as a possible landing spot.
Should the Reds bring Castellanos back?
While he was dominant during his time in Cincinnati — slashing .284/.343/.550 with 48 home runs in 198 games — his production and defense have declined. Castellanos posted a .250/.294/.400 slash line last season with -12 Outs Above Average.
With roster fit, clubhouse chemistry, and defensive concerns in mind, is a reunion really the right move?
In this video, we break down:
– Why the Reds were named as a fit
– Castellanos’ recent performance decline
– The defensive red flags
– Why there may not be room for him in Cincinnati
– Whether a reunion makes sense in 2026

Castellanos was a traitor, leaving 16m for the Phillies. He thought himself too good for the Reds, now we're too good for him . 👎👎👎👎
No.
For a one year 10 mil deal I would sign him.
If only there was a way he could just hit and not have to play in the field.
If we can sign 2021-castellanos then YES
There isn't a fit for him. Signing him takes at bats away from Steer and Stewart. Plus Cincinnati doesn't need a DH with having Suarez.
Great discussion with lots of info about Nick.
NO CREO QUE SEA CONVENIENTE LO2 SE PONCHAN MUCHO.
Agreed, if you can get the Nick C. from 2021 but will be getting the current version no thanks, don't need that to the current lineup and clubhouse.
They just signed a DH. Castellanos is a terrible fielder, same as he was when he was here.
NOPE
Well, with a .254 batting average last year, but did Castellanos hit better than most Reds starters year?
