[Rome] Christian Walker wants to play every day. Can the Astros make that happen?

Im pretty sure from all theyve been showing they dont want to entertain the idea of Paredes at first base. So my guess is Walker is our first baseman for as much as he will play. I really hope he doesnt start as slow as he did last year and he proves to be what we signed him to be. Because I think they’re going to play him as much as possible.
He can watch everyday from da bench
God, I hope not
Can the Astros make that happen? More like can Walker make that happen?
I want my everyday 1st baseman to hit better than. 238 please….
I mean he’s playing. For the love of god stop paying old first basemen so much money. $20 million isn’t a lot, but you can’t pay $40 million for a first baseman and closer, stay under the cap, and contend
The infield is so interesting because like seriously what do you do? Obviously Peña at shortstop but that seems like the only clear everyday guy in the infield. Obviously you want Correa at 3rd but then where do you slot Isaac? He can’t play 2nd and even if he could then where do you put Tuve. Isaac could probably play 1st base but then you can’t DH Walker because Yordan needs to DH most if not every game. Then you think about Brice Matthews and if he is even gonna get any playing time with the infield all clogged up. Whole lotta questions and not a lot of answers
I’d still like to see him at first. I’m a believer in Walker and I think this year he increases his batting average, after all, he’s still a great fielder
If he has another repeat of last April, he can fuck off with any requests.
In Spring Training Paredes should get some reps at 2B and Altuve needs more reps at LF so each can fill in on those positions if needed. But if a good trade of Paredes or Walker doesn’t come about, then Yordan needs to be the starting LF and Paredes as DH. That should be our lineup.
We will know all we need to as soon as he sees mid 90s fastballs at the top rail.
Haven’t disliked an Astro this much since Fiers
Does he want to hit everyday too?
In the last 65 games of ’25 Walker hit 15 homers. That is a 37 hr pace. Hoping for that kind of production in ’26, of course.
All depends on which version of Walker we get this season
I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a Chandler Rome article more, objectively speaking he doesn’t even acknowledge the value of depth, he speaks in certain terms when espousing his own opinion, and comes off as a lame critic. Imagine if Paredes and Walker ball out! What will we do with Correa?! Play him at second? My God, the horror!
The dude belted 14 homers in the last 2 months of the season.
We talk about first and second half differences. ..but if he can learn to hit at Daikin then he’ll be a beast this season.
Home – .202/.279/.342 (8HR, 10dub) (257ab)
Away – .265/.311/.482 (19HR, 14dub) (328ab)
One of the infielders will end up injured by May and this “overcrowded infield” won’t be anymore.
Which team will finish last place in the AL west??
