A completely retarted trade.
Baseball is a very cold-blooded business. Owners and GMs have to be willing to trade fan favourites and players they personally like, if they calculate that by doing so they improve the team, in the current year and in future years. As PM Mark Carney said, "Nostalgia is not a strategy".
Trading Lukes would be dumb .. he can play any outfield spot and just had a great season.
If anything you trade a prospect or 2 for a platoon infielder that can hit.
Any time Nick sees a black guy with any power in his bat he gets WAY over excited.
Same thing with Orelvis .. SELL the whole team we got a black guy with a little power in his bat !!!

Hated the Loperfido trade, I hope that Loperfido hits 300+ with 30hrs and wins MVP.
I don't think Loperfido got much of a chance in Toronto.
Muh-JIN-ski, Nick. I know, it's a weird pronunciation. That's how you say it, though. They spell the pronunciation out on his Wikipedia page, too.
This is also why I said the Sanchez trade didn't make sense in a vacuum. The end game was always to move Lukes, and a backup infielder doesn't make sense because Lukes has more value. The only thing that makes any sense is a very good reliever, and Muh-JIN-ski is likely as close as it gets.
It's weird how they acquired wagner and loperfirdo and then ended up trading both within 2 years lol..
