The Premier League market has reached a new level of absurdity as Wolves have informed Chelsea that securing Mateus Mane will require a package exceeding the fee paid for Estevao Willian.
Estevao Willian joined Chelsea for a base fee of £29 million in the summer from Palmeiras, but there are incentive-based add-ons that could take it to £58 million.
Even at the potential £58 million, it’s a fee that already appears to be a bargain, giving his uncapped potential and the performances he has already delivered at 18 years of age.
But if Chelsea wants to strengthen their pool of young talents even further, then they’ll need to fork out around a £50 million base fee for Mateus Mane this summer.
After all, Chelsea have already held talks with Mane’s agent over a potential move.
Be honest: If Chelsea land Mateus Mane this month, does he go straight into the XI over Pedro Neto?👀

One thing that helps Chelsea is the fact that Wolves are heading for an inevitable relegation to the Championship, which opens the door for talents like Mateus Mane to leave.
But it won’t be easy to secure his services, as according to Caught Offside, Liverpool are leading the race to sign Mane, while Man United and Arsenal are also interested.
It is claimed that Wolves are resigned to losing Mane, but their current valuation of the youngster sits at around £50 million.
The price will certainly intrigue Chelsea after having scouts watch Mane during the 3-1 win over Wolves earlier this month.

Mateus Mane has emerged as a profile that arguably offers more long-term upside than established wingers like Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens.
The Wolves youngster looks fearless and has a swagger about him that has seen him become Wolves’ youngest-ever Premier League scorer. At just 18, Mane currently leads his side in attempted take-ons (5.4 per 90) and goal-creating actions (0.8 per 90).
Unlike Gittens and Garnacho, who often thrive as traditional wide-men, Mane offers more versatility, comfortably operating as a number 10, a wide forward, or even a deeper playmaker. This adaptability makes him perfect for Liam Rosenior’s system, which has already seen him play Pedro Neto in an attacking midfield role against Hull City.
