I can actually provide a bit of context here since I’m really into the sports card hobby.
The person who purchased this card was @benjamin.be.13 on instagram, he’s sort of a whale collector with one of the most expensive and jaw dropping collections in existence in the world.
One of the things he’s really trying to do is collect all green kabooms from the 2018 panini kaboom set (which is a multi sport set). Since Josh Rosen is part of this set, he kinda “needed” this card if he wanted to still complete this goal. He was probably willing to bid an indefinite amount to win this card and I guess someone else ended up also up bidding quite a bit on it for whatever reason, but Benjamin was probably always going to be the winner of this auction.
