Joseph assigned to Springfield | St. Louis Blues

  1. Not a huge surprise. He’s making almost $3 million per season. That’s pretty steep for what he provides.

It’ll be interesting to see if a mutual termination agreement is reached, which I think is less likely for him than for players like Saad and Texier. Matheiu may not have the same opportunity as those players to see money like this again, so agreeing to terminate his contract might not be a wise financial decision.

  2. I think it’s likely his agent has permission to seek out a trade, or Army will terminate his contract so he can find another team.

  3. Wish he’d been able to carve out a spot but it just didn’t work out in his favor. Hope he either enjoys the $3m he’s due while just playing for fun, or gets a crack at another roster elsewhere

  4. I suspect Springfield is about go on a hot streak. They could potentially have Fabs soon, too.

  5. Honestly think that Joseph can tear it up in Springfield. I always liked his speed. Just wished he could finish more often

  6. For Joseph’s sake, I hope he has the same kinda luck our other recent free agents had. Saad ended up in Vegas. Kapanen ended up in Edmonton. Texier ended up in Montreal. All their careers got a second-wind. Unless Joseph just really hates the idea of playing in the AHL, he needs to just play this season out in Springfield, because his contract is pretty good.
