Which Braves prospect from the top 10 are you most excited about and why?
Alex Lodise' 80-90% ceiling I think is Orlando Arcia. Good power, good defensive instincts, good arm, high strikeout rate, middling contact rates. I know some people hate Arcia now because he got exposed trying to hit in the depleted Braves order in 2024, but Orlando Arcia isn't a bad guy to have as your backup middle infielder/ pinch hitter. He played that role exceptionally for the Braves for several years before they tried to press him into service beyond his ability.
Maybe I don't understand how prospect ratings work. But I don't get Fuentes being ranked above JRR. Remember that line in Moneyball: "There is an epidemic failure within the game to understand what is really happening. And this leads people who run Major League Baseball teams to misjudge their players and mismanage their teams." That line was about analyzing past performance. I believe the same epidemic failure exists STILL in baseball regarding projected stats and performance based on poor metrics. All these projects do is use algorithms to place emphasis on certain data points that can be measured. I think these data points and algorithms that people have been using for projects are severely flawed. It causes some players to be over-ranked in their potential, and others to be under-ranked. To me things like a control pitcher like JR is going to beat a fast-baller like Fuentes in the long-term, on pitching style alone because Fuentes is much more likely to miss more time in his prime to injury than JR is. But algorithms and projects don't factor that in. We lost Shelly when he ramped up speed. People are talking about Elder's speed increasing this season. This worries me, because if he throws harder, the Iron Man Elder may be missing time due to injury.
Diego tornes also walked in spring training he’s gonna run thru the minors 😭😭
The future looks pretty bright for the Braves! Thanks Jake! GO BRAVES!
I guarantee Fuentes has injury problems the way he went down last year and shoulder issues linger. Braves hare clueless with prevention of injuries.
4-Seamer, 2-Seamer, Slider, Curve, Change, Cutter seems more than just a "4 pitch mix" for Ritchie.
I think JCL and Ritchie can get in the pen tomorrow 👍
