Carolina Hurricanes winning streak ends in Seattle
The Carolina Hurricanes lost 2-1 to the Seattle Kraken in a road game on March 2, 2026. The Hurricanes saw their 5-game winning streak come to an end as they fell to the Seattle Kraken, 2-1. The Kraken scored both of their goals in the 1st half of the second period as a couple of breakdowns led to grade A scoring chances. Nikolaj Ehlers got the Canes on the board late in the 2nd period, pouncing on a loose puck and ringing the bell for the 16th time this season to make it a 1-goal game heading into the 3rd. But, Carolina just couldn’t generate enough from their 36 shots on goal and 83 (!!!) total shot attempts and the game fizzled out at the end. Frederik Andersen started his second consecutive game for the first time since before Thanksgiving, but wasn’t able to stack back-to-back strong performances in losing. It snaps his personal 6-game point streak.

I don't think they are going to make a move. We have been saying we need a bigger 2C for 2 years. Same for a goalie. Thank goodness we stumbled on Bussi.
Seattle's defense and their physical game weakened us. Jarvis, Robinson, Hall took some bodying hits, that got in their head. We had a lot of shots on goal, no good setups, and a lot of one-timers. Dacord was on point, on to the next one.
Canes going to pull this together.
Can we get Woll and Trocheck! hahaha
As a cup contender, we can't used getting goalied as an excuse, was really hoping we could find a way to get another goal. The kraken's defense and Daccord did great taking the canes out of their game and playing rushed.
The thing is really noticed from the game is we didnt hold onto any pucks, as soon as a player would get it they would pass it on to the next person, often passing it to the kraken players than trying to carry it over the blue line into their zone.
Make the trade Trocheck is the missing piece .. 28 goes back with stall an marty . Trocheck – Ehlers – Robinson one option could try them with Nadeau or switch Ehlers back to Blake line put Tro with Hall so many options
We are best in the east. 2 ahead of TB.
I'm not saying I want Kadri, but if the 'Canes trade for a center, I think he's the most likely.
Tulsky's first priority is going to be not messing with what's working now, and I suspect both Thomas and Trocheck will require more than the 'Canes are willing to give up.
Nobody is getting out of the Eastern Conference without making it through Tampa, and as much as I dislike Kadri, having someone that big and that mean onboard could be a real asset for that series.
Thanks Adam, appreciate your take on it, don't agree with everything tho. Personally, no cable here, so I watch the play by play from gamecast on ESPN, best way to see what's really happening, (nice not to have the chit chat missing half the game), watch the Highlights from the Canes site, and listen to The Hockey Guy's breakdown of the game. It's true Carolina had 35 shots to Seattle's 15, Canes just not getting the back of the net. Canes had 13 hits to Kraken's 30, so much about needing a BIG 2C when the teams BIG guys aren't doing much hitting anyway, tired of Stanks becoming an excuse for why we are not doing well. I'm liking the Stanks line with Hall and Blake, real go getters and on fire every night. Stanks had a lot of shots on net, most were blocked, Hall had many too, as did others. Can't put the loss all on Freddie, albeit, he only had 17 shots on net. Ref's played apart in the dynamics of the loss, but there is no excuses, Canes just didn't play to win. Next game up, Canes should blow out Vancouver with a BIG win.
