  1. They traded the first to get off a bad contract, have the player 50% retained, and get a young player. Dickinson is also a perfect fit at a 3C who actually plays crazy defense and on the the best penalty kill in the league. Its still stupid they signed Mangiopone, but the actual trade seems like its not some crazy overpay.

  2. Oilers fans whining about this trade is embarrassing! We killed 2 birds with one stone with this deal getting rid of dead weight and getting the purely defensive 3C we needed.

  3. Pinder saying a top 12 protected pick is a “major asset” is complete hyperbole. The odds of landing an impact player outside of the top 12 come draft time is highly unlikely, that’s exactly why he’s been preaching to for the flames to tank. Contradictory takes from the hair ball

  4. Mangiapane has always been grotesquely overrated. He had one fluky season of 30 goals with an unrepeatable shooting percentage. It’s laughable that the oilers signed him to that contract! 😂

  5. Get use to the new NHL where you have to overpay for basically any trade. The days of one for one and trading players of equal value are gone. It’s all about the money aspect on what you can afford, how the player fits into your system. GM’s are handcuffed now and they do their best to make these trades with their hands tied. Fans demand it and if it is not a player the fans wanted, it’s a terrible trade. They are the GM’s for a reason people. Right now, some fans are excited and some are extremely pissed off but everyone take a step back, watch and see if this trade has merit. It may be what they needed or it may be a bust. Personally, I can see why they made this deal and I do think it helps them, but time will tell. But the bigger picture here is their hands are tied, when they do make a trade, at least they are trying, not sitting back and doing absolutely nothing. Some slack is needed here. Look how the fans pushed Marner out of Toronto and look at what that did to the team! Complain, be unhappy and frustrated, that is your right but give the transaction a chance before crapping on it. These hockey player’s believe it or not, do follow social media, and when the fan base gets really toxic, they want out of that city. Don’t push McDavid and company out of the city. There is still next year to make it a winner if it doesn’t happen this year but I do agree that time is running out. Be patient my friend’s, it’s tough going out there for teams trying to add with the cap restraints. Just my opinion people, like it or hate it, that’s your decision to make, but don’t crap on the messenger or the GM’s work until there is a sample size to back up any post’s you may have.
