Tbf, I think we all kinda figured this, but Im not super upset, and not at all at Kovacevic. For a guy coming off a major injury, he certainly could be playing worse, and there’s no way he’s not still shaking rust off. His cap hit is pretty fair, and I think he stands a very good chance of being the player he was next season
The lack of options sucks from a logistics standpoint, but that’s Fitz’s problem, or the next GM’s at this point. Im not upset at a decent dude that wants to be here and is bought into the team, tho

How does a third-pair Defenseman (even at the time of his signing) get a fucking NMC??
Far too many mid level players in this league have NMC. This trend needs to die. They are being paid millions of dollars. Having to move is part of the business. It’s the price you pay for the privilege of playing in the NHL and being well compensated for it.
The team is locked in baby! We must be doing really good! Everyone wants to be here and keep succeeding! Right, guys?!?!!

I like Kovy. Don’t want him to leave. 3rd pairing defensive player, leader, great in clubhouse & he can step up into a bigger role if one of your top 4 is hurt. I don’t know why this sub is so eager to trade him.

Did Kovacevic say he will not waive / will remain a devil or did he just say he intends to not waive his NTC rights? Like the intention could be changed for the right destination, ie Boston?

Good thing NJD gave out all these NMC to attract the absolute best talent in the league to New Jersey. Surely we are high up in the standings and primed for the playoffs, right?

That signing was one I have always held against Fitz – the cap hit, the NTC, the logjam on defense, and all this knowing Quinn would want to come to Jersey… everything about it was fucking stupid.
Sure enough it is absolutely biting us in the ass less than a year later.
I still cannot believe Fitz is running this team right now. I understood the dark years after 2012… depleting your team of all assets to keep making cup runs while you have Brodeur was worth it and we nearly had a fourth. Of course it was going to take time to rebuild.
This level of failure this year and not a single person has lost their job? Absolute joke.

Imagine if we lose Nemo over having Kovacevic with a NTC for no reason.
It’s his right not to move his NTC btw, this is 100% on Fitz.
