Yep, he was a flash in the pan.
1-for-19 doesn't indicate anything in Spring Training, even when competing for a spot. The thing with Schneider is that he has positional versatility and can be used to give Clement or Gimenez a blow throughout the regular season without a significant dropoff. There's no one else on the roster that we can say that about. Yes, there's Leo Jimenez, but he represents a pretty significant dropoff offensively. After that, who is there?

Eloy is not at WBC he's in Dunedin! He should be on opening day roster, as should Kasevich. Davis spring slump is too small a sample size to judge him but… Eloy could be one of best bats in the organization if he stays healthy, so he's in. So do you want Kasevich or Davis as backup infielder is what it comes down to. Given that Kasevich is hitting the cover off the ball and can backup at SS and 2nd it's clear what right move is. I like Davis OPS last year and he seems like a great dude, but…

Send davis to buffalo to play second every day. He still has options. If gimenez or ernie gets hurt u can bring him up to play second and hit at bottom of order.

I love to see Barger swinging it like this – but let's not pretend he isn't also struggling against real pitching. He was also .083 to start the spring.
He has doubles vs Strider and Sale in one game – all his other damage is done on minor league guys while everyone is at the WBC – including an out of character 420 ft opposite field hr off a lefty.
Not to diminish what he's doing – it was a solid week and it would be in line with a guy heating up – so hopefully it continues as the big boys start returning.
He's my main focus all spring. I've been critical of him (his streakiness, I really like him in the team) and so far he's had 3 weeks of terrible play propped 1 week of unreal production.
That pattern has been his career in a nutshell.
