The full quote from Keefe:

"There's been a significant increase in Jack speaking up both on the bench and in the locker room since his return from the Olympics. I think the experience over there – not just his individual success and iconic moment that he had, but his being a part of a team that won a championship. I'm sure being in that room and observing different moments where different players speak up and lead the way, to me he's come back and really taken charge of a lot of different areas for our team. That's big. That's what you want. As a coach, that's why those events are so great, best-on-best. You're surrounded by so many different leaders, so many different talents. You can't help but to grow and get better if you're paying attention, and clearly Jack was."

  1. Back office reported conversations do nothing to move the needle forward. Public action speaks louder than backroom hearsay

  2. That’s great and good for Jack. However I really hope this is not something that leads to a “Jack should be captain over Nico” discourse. They can both be leaders in their own way, regardless of letters.

  3. “I fucking won the gold for the United States! Some of your parents weren’t even born last time we did that! And you’re telling me you can’t score one fucking goal against John Freaking Gibson!?” – is what he probably said last game.

  4. In for a penny, in for a pound! I’m not totally sold on this course of action but if we’re in the Hughes Lottery then we might as well be all-in!

  5. Sounds like Jack can become a future Captain someday.

But not now, at least. Nico is doing a decent job with the team, though I’d like for them (the team) to do better.

  6. Good for Jack. Him maturing is good for all of us

Praise for Jack doesn’t mean it’s a shot at Nico, explicitly or otherwise. Everyone relax

  7. Happy to hear it, Jack maturing and becoming a leader is a great thing. More than one leader in the locker room is a good thing.
