Yeah the UFA class sucks. 1/2 the names are going to retire or sign 1 year deals to retire with their current team. There’s about 5 names that are worth looking at, another 5 that are going to get overpaid for having a great contract year then we’re looking at depth signings
Trades, Nemec and Gritsyuk and the draft better be Fitzgerald’s focus (no he’s not going anywhere folks, get used to it)

This is how it was last year too. We can’t keep letting our GM throw their hands up and say the FA class is to weak so I grabbed a 35+ year old project or another ‘depth’ player who can’t actually play.
Trades will need to happen if we have a chance to improve and some devils favorites will probably need to be on the block for this roster to have a chance to move forward. Ditz has hamstrung himself with NM/NTCs so even big swing risky trades are going to e difficult to navigate and we are somehow a bottom ten team while also still flirting with the cap ceiling. Tom Fitzgerald should be tried for hockey terrorism for taking such a promising roster and turning it into shit somehow
I don’t trust this guy to do anything else with this team tbh I’m somewhat glad he didn’t do much of anything at the deadline because he’d probably fuckin botch that too.
Personally as a converted Flyers fan I would LOVE to see Giroux in a Devils jersey. But I know that’s not actually a good idea
It’s a rough reminder seeing some of the ages here. The oldest ones were drafted around the time I started following hockey more closely. Where did the time go
That Ovechkin kid has potential. Would put some butts in seats.
Any big pieces were always gonna be through trades. After 3 years of underperforming, very few players should be safe at this point
Tuch is the only one we should go after, maybe mantha,lee,bjorkstrand,marchment other than that nothing worth signing. Dude will over pay for Kyrou who is just another soft FWD. According to this fanbase we need 1 top 6 C for jack, a PWF/SNP winger for Jack top 6, a 3C better hope you can find someone with dangling silayev and Casey to in front of them.

It is crucial to not have Fitz be our gm going into this offseason. The contracts with NMC he could hand out to some of these players at their age will make palat look like a steal.

With the large cap jumps this is the same type of pool we had last year. Hopefully this year we’ll have a more active trade market so we can make some improvements. It was stupid quiet last offseason. I don’t agree with a bunch of Fitz’s moves, but the lack of trade partners last year really made moves much more difficult.
Any addition that’ll make a significant change to the forward group will have to come from a trade.
Tuch would be a nice get but he’s gonna get a bag that we don’t have.
Get Patrick Kane next to Jack Hughes just for fun
The Devils look pretty stuck to me.
Forward group needs help. They have a surplus on defense, but Nemec is probably their most valuable defenseman and they’re best trade chip. Can they move both Nemec and Hamilton, improve upfront and maintain on tbe back end?
Goaltending is still a trainwreck. Not expecting much of a bounce back from Markstrom. Allen is absolutely not able to maintain a starters workload.
