Nice At At in the background. I love those things….my favorite Star Wars vehicle. It sucks that Hunter is gonna miss all of those starts.
My personal opinion is at the end of every season, anyone with any lingering injury should undergo an MRI to avoid situations like this. Try to catch everything you possibly can as early as you can in the offseason
A large bank account will often cancel out the ability to empathize for a lot of people.
This dude literally had tears in his eyes when making excuses for his "ace". 🤣🤣
Shame on Hunter Greene as this should have been handled early in the last off season.
Who cares. After we see Rhett Lowder you’ll forget all about Hunter .
I would trade hunter green for a top reliever and 2 no 1 prospects
Wow, if he would have had that done over the off season, he’d be ready to go by now. Eh?
"Best Case Scenario"? I still think that would have been if he had had this checked out in October and treated then. He would have been ready now.
Hunter Greene got an injection done for his arm at the end the last year.
The doctor did not believe a surgery or scope was needed at that time.
I don't think Greene is wrong for doing the injection first before doing a scope.
The idea that Greene did nothing for recovery is either lazy, stupid, or have alternative motives.
He didn't just shoot himself for the injection. He likely went to the doctor, the doctor said he had this build up in his elbow after some tests. The doctor recommended the least intrusive operation that works for some people with a similar condition.
I think telling Greene, that told everyone that he went to the doctor and got an injection, that he is "Doctor Greene" should really reread what he said in the interview with Charlie Goldsmith and if they still come out with the same narrative they either have no comprehension or are trying to lie for some reason.
It's not that "he just knew his body", it's that he got it medically looked at and that's how he knew there was no UCL damage, if the doctor saw that he had dammage they would have told him to get Tommy John done right away.
I'm not a big fan of the medical staff for any Cincinnati sports team including the Reds. However in this particular case I think at best he could have had a few checkups done to see if the build up in the elbow was going down and maybe could have got the surgery done in early February.
He never talked about check ups in that interview which makes me think that he rested post injection which would make the arm feel fine, but once he started throwing again the discomfort came back. In his own words "About a week before spring training started, the discomfort came back".
I think the problem was not that he didn't do anything to get it done, but possibly he
1. Didn't get the opinion of more than one doctor
2. Did not set up any check ups to track progress
If 2 is especially done it could have been caught in early February at the latest and we would be looking at a June return at the latest.
I am going to blame the doctor some and Greene some.
What I'm not going to do however is say that Greene was or is lazy and did nothing when he told everyone he did something and we find he was right. I'm also not going to blame Greene for picking the lest intrusive option for medical care and the doctor suggesting and administrating that care to him.
No one I their right mind would pick a 3-4 month recover time over an injection that could possibly help you in a few days or weeks.
Could this have been done better, sure. But to suggest or say that Greene didn't do what was necessary because, he listened to a doctor who got it wrong because the injection didn't work for him when it work for other people, is only harmful to this team, it culture, and how the players feel about the organization and the fans that spend money to watch on TV or go to the games.
If I was Hunter Greene I would demand a trade this next offseason. There's no reason someone should have to deal this amount of disrespect in a game especially given the facts of this case.
Jim Maloney was booed as he limped off the field with a torn ACL. Davis, Griffey, Greene… Nothing changes.
Reds medical staff is a joke… is there not an end of season physical? So we’re to believe this injury just popped up?
I respectfully disagree with you Jeff. It was very selfish of Hunter to think he could pitch through it. He’s the ace of the staff.
"Miss some time?" It's at least half the season! I am pissed! This is inexcusable! He should have had this done in the off season. Greene needs to be a man and pitch through this in 2026! He should not be paid! The Reds should not pay him because he either intentionally or negligently tanked at least half the season!
Carr is a moron! I am going to Chatterbox Reds!!!
All star break 😳🤦🏼♂️
Jeff this? Is for you sir. I am blind and disabled and cannot afford to get Major League baseball this year to watch the Reds how can I listen to it on my phone without paying for Major League baseball to hear it have any ideas?
Becoming much more clear why Reds management were “unhappy” with Hunter!!!
An "ace" is available to lead teams to playoffs. Green has loads of talent, but he's no ace.
Hunter Green is a joke!
I see that friend of the podcast, Red Reporter, states that the Hunter Greene 60-Day I.L. stint is the opening Nathaniel Lowe can use to make the 40-man without costing another player, so shouts to that.
Apparently the discomfort from bone chips did not manifest b/c he refrained from hard throwing workouts until Spring Training. In other words – it seemed injections were effective but not with real physical activity. Really seems chips gotta cause discomfort sooner or later!
Call bauer
Trade greene for a vending Machine
TRADE HIM. ive never been more done with a player than him. Hes made of glass.
513reds❤Still Bad Luck For Our city Overall Jeff!!Gameplan has change Before Even Geting Started.😮Going To Be A lots of what if looking like!!!!
I disagree w you Jeff. The moment he knew his arm has issues he should have had it cleaned out. If you do the math, if he had it done , he would have been ready for Goodyear.
The truth is everybody must be healthy and everybody has to have a career year for the Reds to be truly competitive. Remember 1990, a whole bunch of Reds had career years! That is what it will take! Season pretty much tanked before it starts! Now, everybody else would have to have a fantastic career year!
Locked On people – Jeff Carr needs to go away!
The Reds need to find a way to move on the toxic Hunter Greene! Go ahead and trade him for prospects, it won't be huge, but everyone knows he is garbage now! Only wants to be a part time pitcher.
Great he will be back at the Allstar break what if we are not in it come then because he didn't play the first half. Hope this doesn't happen as the guys that is next man up really are good. But if we are out of it come the Allstar break its going to hurt real bad when we think he could have had surgery in off season and not missed any time.
