As we still have yet to figure out WR2 or 3 for next year, I’m excited to see the competition between Lane/Burks/Luke for WR4. Is there a chance AP feels okay by just adding 1 more WR and maybe seeing those 3 battle for WR3? I’d prefer adding 2 more (Aiyuk and a rookie), but if competition is our answer for WR3, then I won’t be too mad. Lane reminds me of a young Santana Moss, excelling at fly routes, deep crossers/posts, drags and screens, as well as returner. In a Play Action offense, you can take advantage of a player like him, if he is a willing run blocker, since you can disguise the play. Remember ‘tana had early drops in his career with the NYJ and is one of the reasons they were willing to trade him. I think Lane can bounce back from those drops last year. Thoughts?

Lane isn’t nearly the receiver Santana was in college so don’t love that comparison. I have more hope in Luke as a receiver than Lane quite frankly. Lane will probably remain a gadget guy and returner.
He’s not good can we stop with this 😭 dude had like 2-3 nice catches all year I’d be shocked if he was anything more than a special teamer. I never hate on players too especially after their rookie years but I haven’t seen any potential since college of him being a legit WR

He needs to work on his hands like Terry did
Lane, Luke, and Dyami all remind me of each other. A little shifty in the grab and go game with a deep ball straight line speed game mixed in.
I don’t have much expectation for any of them outside of Luke returning to kickoffs and Lane to punt returns.
I’m not giving up on him but like we didn’t see much from him this season. The 525 yard rookie year benchmark is a lot more reflective than you think.
I’ll never understand why Kliff used Lane the way he did. I only ever saw him running go routes & 50/50 balls down the sideline, when that was never his game at VT. He was the Deebo of Virginia Tech when he was there, being the swiss-army-knife gadget guy who did a little bit of everything to keep defenses on their toes. He was fantastic at that. Kliff didn’t use him for that at all. He was great at finding, and fast enough to exploit, seams in the middle of the field. Kliff didn’t use him for that at all. Kliff used his 5’10 lightning fast receiver as if he was AJ Brown for some reason, while giving all the jet sweeps & wheel routes to 32 year old Chris Moore.
Why the fuck draft the guy if you never planned on using him for what he’s actually good at? Goddamn Tyler Bowen used Jaylin Lane more effectively than Kliff Kingsbury, and Tyler Bowen was dogshit. Lane’s misuse is one of the reasons I was not sad at all to see Kliff go.
Get those RPAs while you can! I hope he goes off next year. Seems like he has all the skills to do so. Im excited to see him in the Jamo roll hopefully.
