Berube Calls Out Woll, Stolarz Scare, Leafs Last Since Break ft. Carter Hutton

Nick Alberga & David Pagnotta break down a chaotic weekend for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto dropped a 4-3 OT decision to the Carolina Hurricanes before falling 5-2 to the Ottawa Senators, with the spotlight firmly on the crease. Craig Berube publicly called out Joseph Woll following the Carolina loss, and hours later, Woll was forced back into action after Anthony Stolarz took a William Nylander shot to the neck in warmups. Stolarz was taken to hospital for precautionary imaging but was able to return home with the team.   1. How about calling out yourself Berube!! In 2 seasons you refuse to take Rielly off the top D pairing. You played Laughton as your #4 center. Domi line 1. Near refusal to play the kids and give them actual minutes.
    A gm. 1st contract 2.3mil and nmc for a 4th line center…Who has his #1 goalie have an absolute brain melt all year long. What did you do? You got a plethora of 6th and 7th dmen playing minutes they shouldn't be. Then fire the coach when your roster failed…again.
    You inability to obtain a big fish in free agency so you get a bunch of plugs and projects with marner money.
    The fact that everyone expected them to be a wild card team is crazy. Who is your gm? Who is your coach?? Nobody ever talks about his analytics. EVER!! How good is Berube's teams year 2 and beyond???
    If you cant see that he lost the room last playoffs during game 5 rd 2…your as delusional as Treliving is.
    All off season and season…we are looking for top forward…with what??
    I knew this team was doomed when Treliving was hired. Even worse when Berube was named coach.
    48 years as a fan. I've lived through and seen alot.
    Frankly…until is fans hurt the bottom line and wallet, nothing is going to change.
    Enough is enough!!

    The team has 3 top 6 forwards!! Bottom 6 on every line or 1 top line. That doesnt fall on the roster. That falls on the very inept gm and coach who had a hand in filling out the roster.

  4. Ok, enough is enough. What kind of sick Joke is this Berube? He has the balls to come out and take shots at Woll? Buddy, if it weren't for our goaltending giving the team a chance to win night after night, while getting caved in and dominated, this season would be a worse shit show than it has been. I'm not always a guy who screams fire the coach when the players aren't pulling their weight on the team, but Berube has to go the day the season ends. I would say fire him now, but the last thing we need is a "New Coach Bump" and end up pulling within a few points of the playoffs, still miss and have to give up our 1st rounder anyways 🤷

The leafs let the Director of High-Performance Rich Rotenberg go and he went to Pittsburg Penguins and got Crosby back healthy unlike the leafs where half the team are injured and it's going downhill when Matthews have to go to Germany for help and now went to Nwe York City to have his knee operated on, also players in today's era don't want to come to the leafs because they know that their career is over when joining the leafs because they will never get a chance to play.

  9. I agree with Pagnotta. Toughen the f*ck up. These kids — at the levels they've played — have been screamed at by coaches since they were 5 years old. C'mon Nic. You've been around more top-line athletes than most of us. You must have seen this.

    Time to man up. If players need to be put into a perfect environment to succeed, they've already lost. The best players make and control their environment.

  11. MLSE had to pay Babcock 6 + large for a number of years not to coach. They also paid Sheldon Keefe when he was fired. I don't think MLSE wants to pay a coach or GM not to perform their duties. I can see them just letting the clock run out on Tre, and firing Berube at the end of next season.

  12. There is no right coach for the current group!! Stop all the lame excuses!! It's sickening!! Get rid of players, Mathews included!!

  14. The top end is a bit of an issue for me because it just lacks heart…that is why it has failed for the past ten years or so. But the goalie is not the one who has been lacking in play. The leafs are a bit lost right now and don’t know what they are… show ponies are pretty to watch but give me a quarter horse that will kill it’s self trying to get the job done…grunt and determination is the key here to get it out of the middle ground because it is a deathly blow for morale if it doesn’t change for what it is right now
