With Ayo’s playmaking and ball handling, if Finch starts with him, Ant can play a more pure SG.
Dunking with Wolves is clickbait garbage
I don’t think we should do anything major with our star player with like 10 games left in the season
**TL;DR:** Wolves have gone 3-1 without Ant, with Dosunmu, Hyland, and McDaniels all thriving off better ball movement. When he returns, don’t go back to the same old ISO-heavy offense.
The suggested tweaks:
– **More off-ball Ant** — he shoots 50.4% on catch-and-shoot 3s but only 26.7% of his threes come from those looks
– **Let Dosunmu/Hyland initiate** to keep defenses guessing
– **Push transition more** — he’s already in the 84th percentile, but there’s still room
Fun stat: Wolves are 26-14 when Ant scores *under* 30, and only 15-13 when he drops 30+. Less hero ball = better team.
“No we should go back to exclusively playing iso ball while everyone else stands around” – the inevitable replies here
Watching the wolves without any makes me realize how little movement on offense there is when he is in the game.
He doesn’t really move unless he knows he’s getting the ball, and when he gets doubled he passes it off and stands on the 3pt line. If he added movement to his game like curry this team would achieve new levels.
No
Honestly its probably the best thing for ant too. Hes always been a better off the ball player off eye test. While hes a tremendous scorer having him off ball keeps him fresh longer and makes the offense as a whole flow way better. Lets him be more of a pure sg too instead of this tweener 1/2 guard
Wolves are #1 defense in last 4 games, 101 defensive rating. Some of it is playing against below average offenses besides Boston (18th, 22nd, 23rd, and 2nd), but the team is also giving up 6.9 points per 100 possessions more on defense with Ant on the floor. Ant just has to rebound and play defense with effort like Jaden, Ayo, Bones, and DDV do, and Wolves can beat everyone.
Well yes Ant generally tweaks his game come the playoffs which starts very soon.
I’ve been pretty down on Finch all year and how the team plays after Ant comes back will determine if I’ve been completely wrong or not
Sure, it could be an option.
I also think the team should have more plays for off ball when an iso is called. It’s the *standing around* when he has the ball that’s the problem. Even if he doesn’t pass it, no one is doing anything to get open when the defense collapses on him for a good open shot
Not as worried about anything on offense as I am his defense. He’s been pretty trash with his off ball defense this season and is slow to close out on shooters. Gotta give more effort on that end.
Bro they need to reduce his usage rate. Then he cant make the excuse to be a fucking cone on defense or play in transition. The extra 2 to 4 ppg he could get from it could literally vault him into the MVP conversation
